We should always have our heart and arms open for anyone in need.

                   ~Christmas Wish~

One cold Christmas Eve, a young boy was walking alone in the street. He looked very cold and had no shoes on his feet. He didn’t look like he belonged in the freezing Midwest with no shoes, something wasn’t right. Candy Albright was in the neighborhood delivering meals to the elderly when she saw him. She couldn’t just drive by when he needed some one to help him. She immediately stopped and told him to get in her car. The boy hesitated then finally stepped in to her warm car.

She asked him if she could drive him home. He said he didn’t have a home and was looking for the homeless shelter. Candy took him to the shelter where she worked, and got him warm boots and gloves. He was beaming with happiness as he put the warm furry boots on his cold chapped feet. “Can I be your child” said the homeless boy. “Of course, I will take you in as my own.” exclaimed Candy.

Candy called and found out the boys parents died in a plane crash and he had been living on the streets of L.A., bumming rides anywhere until he ended up in the cold Midwest. He had one living relative but she couldn't take care of his needs. Candy was ready to be a parent and give of her love to another human being. Her wish had finally come true . She was going to be a mother.

Candy wanted the first Christmas with her son to be very  special. She  made him a turkey with all the yummy sides. She even made him apple cider while they read  Christmas Story by the fire. They spent Christmas Eve playing games, and watcing movies. It was the best Christmas Eve ever.

On Christmas morning- the tree was full of gifts. The entire neighborhood pitched in and got this special boy some very special presents. He had never seen the game Operation before and giggled with delight when he got buzzed. He was so happy and thankful to Candy for taking him in and caring for him. He was given love, warmth, shelter, food, toys, clothes, and a very cool new toothbrush. It had been a while since he brushed his teeth.

His aunt Cathy walked through the door with tears in her eyes. It was a miracle that he was found alive after days of being alone on the streets.  When she showed him a collage of his parents he started to cry.  He now had pictures of them to remind him of his past. His empty spot was now full thanks to Candy. His Christmas wish really came true . He wished for a family again, and Candy made it all happen by giving her heart to a young boy that desperately needed love and a warm bed to sleep in.

When our heart breaks we want to close it so it won’t hurt anymore. If we do that love can’t get in again.  If we are closed, we will never know what we might have missed if we were open. Always keep your heart open even when it’s broken. Christmas is about giving to others that need help. Always reach out with a heart full of love. Make miracles happen for the less fortunate, and feel the joy of giving this holiday season.
