Charles updates us on his sister Meegin; he is excited because she gets out of the hospital tomorrow, just a few days shy of a month-long stay.

G'day!  'Tis me, Charles.  Sorry for not writing sooner, but have been incredibly busy, not to mention, exhausted.

I spent the last two days at home, trying to catch up on bills, lost sleep, taking care of "Monster":  y'know, the typical things.  Now that I am (somewhat) more human, I can visit me sister, Meegin, before they spring her out of hospital tomorrow!

That's right.  Meegin is being discharged from hospital; that way, she can continue her recovery from recent stomach surgery with me at me place until she recoups her strength enough to where she can fly back home to Oz.

A few days past, she hardly ate anything; now she eats everything that's set in front of her.  They also took off the last of the tubes, so she is looking much more like herself; only tube she has left is her oxygen and the IV port in her arm.  Other than that, she's completely free.

Today she walked the entire length of the hospital corridor until she got dizzy; the PT team popped her back in her wheelchair and wheeled her back to her room, where they checked on things.  Her b.p. was frightenly low, but once she slept, she be apples:  no worries; she was going to be just fine.

Meegin was a little nauseated, but thank God she didn't do any technicoloured yawns; she managed to keep what she'd ate for brekky in her system.  That's major progress; a few days ago she wouldn't have been as fortunate.

Meegin is happy to be going home tomorrow (well, not exactly "home", but at least she'll be out of hospital!), but she misses Oz.  She so wanted to go to Sydney to see the ringing of the New Year.  I had her watch the live feed on me laptop; it wasn't the same to her, but at least she got to see the fireworks.  Thank God for video and laptops, right??  :)

I didn't do anything for the New Year except one thing:  sleep.  I needed it; I didn't sleep much since all of this transpired nearly one month ago.  Had she stayed in hospital several more days, she would have been in for one month exactly.  I still need more sleep, but for now, I will enjoy Meegin while she recuperates from her illness!

I think I have aged ten years since all this happened!  I'm no longer fifty-eight:  I feel more like sixty-eight, perhaps older!  LOL

I'm an old bloke!  LOL

There's been this one little nurse who has been like an angel to me sister.  She made sure she had everything, or if she was in pain, she made sure she got the meds to get it to a dull roar.  All of the nurses have been ace, but this one particular one (Louisiana is her name) has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help me sister:  I will never forget her.  I will make sure that Meegin sends her something from Aussie when she goes back home!  Or maybe I can find something at me place and bring it to her.  I'm sure she will enjoy that!

Well, Meegin wants to get up and walk again, so I will get the walker and go with her as she travels down the hallway.  She must be feeling better; that's bonzer news by me!  I didn't think she'd get over this; I was so sure she was about to kark on me!  Now look:  she's eating and walking (with help); and she will be going home tomorrow!  I can't wait to get her back home and take care of her!

Then, when she is feeling more like herself, I will show her around Nashville before I send her on her way to points unknown.  :)  Take care, all, and God bless!

~Charles Quigley, Meegin's brother.  :)

"...I will enjoy Meegin while she recuperates from her illness!..." then again, it seems that 2010 brings more good news that the "old" one!

Sooooo glad Meegin is on the road to recovery and will be discharged from hospital tomorrow. Now: is Charles ready to be her doctor, nurse and therapist? Just as long as he doesn't bill her, or else she will find a 'roo to kick him low. =] LOL! Well done, Karen.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
