Winning the Bug Battle takes courage and determination. Winning the Bug Battle is not for the weak of heart OR the weak of tummy.
I don't like bugs! I'm not afraid of them. They don't give me the willies. I just don't like them.
I don't keep a spotless house. I 'live' in my home, and anyone can take one look and tell that. But just because I live here doesn't mean I want bugs to live here too. The nasty little critters carry germs and probably leave little tiny pee spots and itty bitty poos everywhere.
A couple of days ago, there was a bug crawling around my kitchen sink. A little black rascal about the size of a flea but it didn't jump or bite... just crawled along as if it owned the place. I squashed that bugger and didn't think much about it. But later, I saw two more. squashed those and went on a search for my can of Industrial Strength Bug Spray. I sprayed all around the kitchen edges, trying to stay away from food and dishes.
Well, dang it all, yesterday, I saw them again. Spray some more and start The Search for their hiding place. Nope, none in with the bread. Nope, none in the coffee, instant oatmeal packets or hot chocolate packets.
I knew the whole Bug Family was living somewhere nearby so I started emptying my kitchen cabinets. While standing on a chair, peering into a clutter of various seasonings, plastic bowls with missing lids, I saw a half dozen little black bugs on the shelf. Squash, squash, squash, spray, spray, spray, wipe, wipe, wipe.
Next I gathered up my courage and looked into a container of Italian Bread Crumb Seasoning ....... Yikes! Zillions and zillions! Quick, quick, quick, get a plastic bag and start throwing every eatable thing that was on that shelf away. Take every plastic dish and put it in the dishwasher .... probably has bug pee and/or poo on them. I tied up plastic bag, out into the dark, watching for racoons, and tossed that buggy stuff into the dumpster. Ran the dishwasher, scrubbed the kitchen.
This morning ................ no bugs. I won the war!
well written, Donna. I think the bugs will be with us forever unless we keep our house well sprayed with insect repellant. Daddy Longleg spiders, mice in the ceiling and other creepy crawlies live in my house and I see no way of getting rid of them. Ho hum. Laurel

tiny pee spots and itty bitty poos? lol. I hate bugs, but I tolerate them as long as they don't go near me. Spiders, on the other hand, declared war on me a long time ago by biting the hell out of me, so now I have a nice, fat book by my bed. If I see one of those eight-legged bastards, then it's on. SPLAT.
don't you just love those pesky little buggers? love your stories they are down to earth and deal with real life situations and the humor that makes life worth it all. keep it up, very good stuff.
I just realized that I never told you how much I liked this little story. I think I've read all of your works from this site, but this is still my favorite. Waiting for more. Dick

Great story. You have a way of telling stories that we all can relate to and you give us permission to laugh at ourselves. Keep writing, I'm enjoying all of them.
Yeah for you, Donna. I am SO with you on this. In this home, I've not had any problems with bugs but in my former home, it often was a challenge. I'm glad you're my kindred spirit when it comes to bugs. I'm totally with you on this. Thank you. Love and best wishes and bug free,
The most difficult thing that two humans can attempt is to communicate. No, not talk, communicate! Most relational problems are either caused by or aggravated by a failure to communicate properly. Learn how to do just that, communicate. See how much
