Good news last week: No longer will licenses be suspended automatically when one files a bigfoot sighting with the police. On the blog, Bigfoot Ballyhoo, we’ve received many comments verifying this change in policy. But, I would exercise caution until the new policy is completely understood and put in place by the police agencies across the state (Oregon). Several readers of the blog thought that this new policy would open the floodgates for hoaxers. But be warned the police have not been left powerless to prosecute those that file a false bigfoot sighting report. It will cost you dearly, in time and money if you waste these officer’s  time with a bogus bigfoot report.

     Gina Riggs observed a bigfoot and reported it to the police. Her license was suspended and she was required to see a doctor, at her own expense. She has since received a formal apology from the State of Oregon along with a form to fill out for refund of  all the expenses accrued. Riggs was very grateful for the help of Bill Emery, who stood beside her at the DMV hearing and testified to the existence of bigfoot.

It seems something is always going on; someone is always adding to the truthfulness of bigfoot’s existence or attacking the likelihood that it exists.      Last week I emailed the Smithsonian to follow up on the bones that were sent there from the Columbus Day Storm of 1962. The file number was a Forest Service one and so did not help them find the bones. It was interesting in that the return email was quick to add that the animal has not been substantiated as a real animal and, more or less, “of course we don’t have such bones.” The Smithsonian is a vast organization, and it  will probably take a lengthy and determined effort to actually find these bones.
