Braison Running Bear is worried about the possibility of bad weather tomorrow in Oklahoma, where he lives with his family.

April 1, 2010, Oklahoma~

Braison Running Bear here.  Thought I would write in here before the weather turns nasty sometime tomorrow (anywhere from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., the way things look now), including the possibility of tornadoes.

We had some bad weather last week, but no tornadoes near us; those went near the Oklahoma/Arkansas border.  One town got hit three times in the same day!  They pretty much had a ton of damage; it's gonna take weeks, months, maybe even years, to clean up all the mess!

Now we might get it again; they're saying our area is favorable for severe weather to develop.  I am not too thrilled about this, especially since we don't have anywhere to go except to our bathtub in the bathroom.  With four kids and two grandparents, it gets pretty crowded, and there's nothing like the sound of the wind howling or the hailstones hammering your house; at times it sounds like everything's gonna fall right in on top of us!

Easter is on Sunday; we might go to church, but that depends on the weather tomorrow.  If we have any damage on account of the possible tornadoes, we aren't going anywhere!!  If not, then we'll go to church as planned and maybe have an Easter egg hunt for the little kids (Bitsi, who is six, and the three-year-old twins, Benjie and Brandon).

I am so glad school is about over:  I am getting sick of the non-Indian kids making fun of me and the other Native kids.  If I hear them call us "Tommy Tommyhawk", "Savage", "RedSkin", or "Injun" one more time, I might have to do a first-class war dance on their heads!  They are so stupid; I can't stand them!!

Summer also marks the time for pow wows; we go to at least half a dozen across Oklahoma during the summer and fall months of the year; I do fancy dancing, and I also play the Indian drum and sing.  I have gotten quite good at it too; Grandfather (and also Father, when he was alive) both taught me.  I really enjoy it!

Well, this isn't much, but my life isn't that exciting.  Pray we don't get any bad weather tomorrow; I don't like storms, especially when there's a chance of tornadoes, damaging winds, or big hail!  And I don't like the fact that we don't have a basement or a shelter to go to when it gets bad out!  I would greatly appreciate it!

I will write in here again soon; until then, this is Braison Running Bear saying so long!  Take care and Happy Easter!

~Love, your friend in Oklahoma, Braison.  :)

It is long past time when teachers and parents become pro-active when it comes to bullying. Problem is so much in the way of bad behavior is learned at home and those parents that may be bullies themselves may not think it such a big deal. Maybe schools should institute, and force the collection of fines for those parents that will not enforce civilized behavior from their children. Waiting to see if the big, damaging storm hit Branson's town.

Just heard about a girl killing herself because of bullying...her tormentors must be so proud! and the parents and schoolmates! and the whole town! 2010, what a disgrace to "civilization"

Karen,

Knowing how much you love storms NOT, I hope they miss US or aren't as bad as they say they could be. Excellent story.
