McKinney, Texas, May 5, 2010 (Cinco De Mayo Day!)~

Dear Journal~

Rat-Nose here.  Sorry if I haven't written in a long while; been busy.  Now that Mother's Day is nearly upon us (Sunday), it means more hours.  Gonna need 'em; just hope the dishwasher holds out!  Working a lot; nice to be making the moolah!  Yet it never goes far:  spend at least 3/4 of it on gas alone; I'm lucky if I have $20 to last me the rest of the week!  It's ludicrous!!

Maybe someone'll feel sorry for the poor, overworked dishwashers in the back and leave 'em a tip!  LOL  That'd be so great!!

I am doing okay, as is my family; Gloria has just about recovered from her accident back in December, but she is left with ongoing back pain and stiffness.  She is using a cane sometimes; I feel sorry for her!  I will see her Sunday; fact is, I will probably see ma and pa, too; they are planning on coming out to eat at Taco Cabana on Sunday, to celebrate Mom's Day.

Seems like everybody and their mother will be out in full force that day.  Mother's Day is a huge day for all restaurants; gonna' be busted out the doors, and it's gonna' be nothing but absolute craziness!

I guess you've already heard about the serious flooding in Nashville and the recent tornadoes in Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi, plus the Gulf oil spill.  Such hard times have befallen our country; I have been lifting up the affected areas in my prayers when I go to bed at night (or whenever I think of it during the day).  I have a cousin who lives in Nashville, and he's okay, but he lost his home in the flooding.  Right now he and his family are staying at a shelter, and the Red Cross is helping them out.

My cousin's name is Jaden Roseszinkski; he's my age, and he's way cool.  He has all kinds of neat video games, and he's also into skateboarding.  I see him twice a year, like around the Fourth of July and around Thanksgiving, but I don't know if he'll be able to come to Texas this year.  They'll have to get their lives back in order first.

I also have a cousin in Arkansas who lost his parents in one of the tornadoes, so I know he's going through a very hard time.  I have been praying for him too; his real name's Kermit, but we call him "Scooter".

As for the weather here, it's been nothing but stellar:  bright, pristine-blue skies with nary a cloud, temps in the upper eighties, a little humid (but not too bad):  perfect weather to go skateboarding or go swimming, or go to the park.  Since I don't have any homework assignments tonight (plus the fact that I am off work as well!), I am going to go to the park after I get done here.  I will probably grab a piece of pizza before I do, so that way my parental units can't gripe at me about "not eating enough"!

Besides, pizza has all the basic food groups:  Pasta/Bread.  Meat.  Vegetables.  Milk.  Plus fruit (tomatoes).  (Nearly put "tornadoes"!  LOLOLOLOLOL)  So there you go.  Instant nutrition! :)  Yummmmm! :P  I looooooooove pizza!!

I will work from tomorrow night until Sunday (all day, from 11 a.m. until 7:30/8:00 p.m., depending on when business starts to slacken off).  As for tonight, though, this Rat's gonna play!!  :)

I will write in here again soon; time to get my grub face on and then go to the park; hopefully some of my buddies will show up, and we can skateboard until 9 or 10; then we'll walk home together.  Until then, this is Rat-Nose saying so long; God bless!  Pray for those areas affected by the recent storms; I'd greatly appreciate it, especially since I have two cousins who were affected, as I mentioned before!
