This is M'buti again. In just two more days marks the one-year anniversary of what happened last year. On September 11, 2001, we were attacked by terrorists, and, as a result, many innocent people died at the hand of those responsible. Buildings also fell (The World Trade Centers), and others were damaged (The Pentagon).
I have not slept well since that day; when I ~DO~ sleep, I have terrible nightmares; whenever I close my eyes all I see are those horrible images of the planes running into the sides of the Twin Towers and then the ugly, black smoke billowing from her sides; and then I see them falling into a cloud of dust and heavy smoke. The very thought of it ~STILL~ makes me sick inside because as a result of those attacks against our nation, I lost a very good friend. Her name was Stephanie Green, and she died instantly when the plane hit the one tower. She was ~only~ 30 years old, a little older than me. ~Oh, Stephanie, WHY did you have to die in such a HORRIBLE WAY?? WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DIE SO YOUNG???? WHY COULDN'T IT HAVE BEEN ME???~
I am sitting here at the airport, waiting to board the plane; we are on our way to New York, meaning my husband, Roberto, and myself; we are going to attend the anniversary events marking the tragedy, and I am feeling scared and upset; I don't know how I will react when I first see the New York City skyline without the Twin Towers gracing it like two tall twin guards. (I haven't been to NYC since last August. The last time I was in NYC the Twin Towers were still standing. Now, thanks to those ~fucking terroristic bastards~, they are no longer standing, and too many people were lost; and now, too many families are grieving the loss of their loved ones.)
In case you are wondering, little Jubaki isn't with us; he is staying at my friend Miss Louisiana's house. He'll stay there until we get back sometime later on this weekend. It is going to be hard enough for Roberto and I; we don't need to subject our little son to something so horrific or painful! Besides, he is just a little boy; he isn't old enough to understand what took place last year!!
And a year later, too many questions remain unanswered; we may ~NEVER KNOW~ the reasoning behind the attacks. Those people responsible for it say they did it "in the name of their religion"; I say they did it because they are jealous of America, and they hate us because we are free, and they are ~NOT~. And bin Laden is still around ~SOMEWHERE~, and too many people are left feeling scared and afraid, not knowing what may happen next; and all of this is proving to be ~VERY~ unsettling and troublesome, indeed.
~WHY~ isn't ~ANYTHING~ being done to stop these terroristic ~BASTARDS~ in their tracks? ~WHY~ must we ~REMAIN~ scared and afraid??
It just ~DOESN'T~ seem fair!!
Will write more from NYC in a few days. Talk to you then!!~
