This is Craig Hart writing.
I'm about to pull my hair out in grief.
The worst thing has finally come to pass: Wylie Cole's body was found yesterday; it was found in a culvert in the park we'd been at when he disappeared just over one year ago.
Now we have to go and make funeral arrangemnts. The whole family is, as you can imagine, in a state of shock and disbelief. All the hopes we had in him being found have been dashed to pieces.
My wife, Clarissa, and our two remaining children (Feather, 11, and Jasper, 13) have been crying their eyes out ... and I haven't been far behind them.
There is suspicious evidence that he might have been sexually abused by his captor (or captors). His body, when discovered, was found to be totally nude with marks of a possible violent altercation. There were also bruises around his neck; there is the possibility that Wylie might have been choked prior to being abused.
The news is devastating. How could a human being (if he had any heart) do this heinous crime against a little boy, especially one like our son, a child who wouldn't have hurt a living creature?? How could Wylie have possibly defended himself against those who did this tio him? He was small for his age, delicate in build, and had such a kind spirit about him!
I just don't understand human nature sometimes. I also don't understand why God would allow such a cruel thing to happen. If He is the loving God that He says He is, then why couldn't He have done something to protect our son or at least bring him back home to us, safe and sound??
I'm sorry, but I can't write anymore. Tears are threatening to spill yet again. Maybe down the raod you will hear from me or Clarissa, my wife, but until then, we have to go and bury our youngest child, who was just a baby! No child deserves to meet such a tragic end!!
