Howdy! Spinner Regan here! Thought that I would write, to let y'all know what's going down with us!
We have a new sister now: a little girl named Honore' Michelle, whom Mama and Daddy adopted from Haiti. She is four and is very energetic. She keeps us on our toes and is into everything!! I love her, don't get me wrong, but wow! She drives us crazy, especially when she whines because she doesn't get her own way!
Then there's my little sister, Maeli Torrence (9) and my little brother, Carston Stryker, who just turned six and is just as mischevious as Honore' (but then that's his true nature). And of course me. (I just turned 11.)
Mama and Daddy are busy with us, but things are finally starting to settle down, now that the Christmas holidays are overwith. We had a good Christmas; the best present we got was our little sister, Honore'. I also got a new computer; my old one got fried by lightning last year during a particularly bad thunderstorm.
I might get to go on several chases with Uncle Twister this year, but not now. Maybe in the spring, when the severe weather season really gets cranking. Speaking of Uncle Twister, he's up in Minnesota, attending a funeral of a chaser who was killed by a drunk driver. The guy was only 24 years old and leaves behind a wife and a very small daughter (I think she is three).
I hope Uncle Twister gets back safe; he should be back by Tuesday if all goes according to plan. He thought that this would be the right thing to do, in order to show support for the chaser's family and friends, and from what I hear, a bunch of other chasers have gone to the funeral, too.
The chaser, who lived in Minnesota, had been in Texas, chasing some storms, and he was on his way back home when he got killed in Oklahoma by the drunk driver (it was a lady). I hope this makes people think before they get behind the wheel of a car if they'd been drinking; if you ask me, I think drinking while drunk is only asking for trouble ... or worse.
I hope the police and other law officials make this drunk driving problem illegal or at least punish the drunk drivers with the severest portion of the law, especially if they kill someone or hurt them so bad the other person (or people) are left brain damaged or disabled!
I am sure Uncle Twister won't be in a talking mood when he gets back from Minnesota. We will just have to give him some space so he can grieve.
Anyway, back to my story. The weather here has been cold, but a few weeks back we did have some severe storms, including some tornadoes (not so much around here in Atlanta, but around us). The lightning was spectacular, and so were the tornado sirens when they went off. I wanted to take pictures of the lightning, but Mama and Daddy both told me to get down to the shelter and wait until the storms passed. I was not happy; I wanted to see the lightning and the tornadoes!
We may have a hard freeze tomorrow night and the night after, which means daytime highs won't get out of the forties or fifties. BRR!! Too cold for me; I am more than ready for spring (and severe weather season)!!
Carston is doing great. From the way he runs around on his crutches, you wouldn't even think that he had been so sick last summer and had surgery. He's full of "spit and vinegar", as Daddy says. He's also gotten quite mouthy; he loves to think he knows everything and knows that he can get his way by giving Mama and Daddy the "soulful dog eyes" routine and pooching his bottom lip way out. Whenever he gives us that Look, there's no stopping him!!
I think it's because Carston knows he is no longer the baby of the family, so he does it to annoy us. He's right jealous of Honore', but I am sure that once he gets used to her being here, he'll settle down soon. (Or at least I'm hoping he does!!)
Well, we're gonna go out to eat for lunch (we're going to Denney's), so I'd best get ready and join the family in the hallway; I hear Daddy bellowing my name! Until later, this is Spinner Regan saying I'm outta here! Over and out!! God bless!
