One of my favorite places to be....the ocean. I think I could live right there on the beach. This Egret was happy to share the space with me.
Sitting on the beach that morning reminded me of a story I heard so many years ago. It was about two people in a nursing home who shared a room.
One of the roommates for whatever reason had to remain flat on his back. While the other roommate could enjoy the view out his window.
Every morning the man with the view shared what he saw. One morning it was a flock of egrets on the beach.
Another day the man described the waves crashing along the shore.
He also described the beautiful sunsets and the sun coming up in the morning. The brilliant golds and purples splashing across the horizon.
Instead of being excited or asking his roommate for more details the man who was flat on his back became agitated. He was angry that he wasn't able to "see" all that his roommate could view. He grumbled at the unfairness of it.
This went on for several days until one morning the man flat on his back was temporarily moved from his room. When they returned him, his roommate was gone.
He immediately demanded he be given the bed with the view.
The nurse turned to him, "I'm not sure I understand you."
The fellow went on to say, "all these weeks I've been in his bed staring at the ceiling. I demand to be over there by the window."
"First of all, there is no window in this room", she said.
"Now I don't understand. Where's my roommate?"The fellow said.
"Mr. Jones passed away during the night. But didn't you know he was blind?"
