Carol Kuykendall, a regular Daily Guideposts contributor, is one of my everyday heroes. I've never met Carol, I don't know much about her except for the fact that she is a cancer survivor. Her husband Lynn, also struggles with cancer. Carol's words today in daily Guideposts, "he's been on chemotherapy for more than a year for his recurrent brain tumor".
Why is she my hero? Because she offers hope to me. She offers an example of courage to me.
I've struggled for the past five years with a non-life threatening disease of my own. I have more good days now than bad ones, but during the bad times it's difficult to stay upbeat. Some days it's difficult to put one foot in front of the other one, literally. It's difficult to travel very far, and so the story goes. But I'm learning to deal with it. And it's people like Ms Kuykendall who give me hope. She has looked death in the face. She continues with her deep faith, and leads the rest of us. To her I can only very humbly say, thank you for all you do for us. I pray for she and Lynn often.
2 Corinthians 12:9 My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness....
12:10......For when I am weak, then I am strong.
