A boy accepts Christ as his Lord and Saviour while at church. This is his story.
Hard to imagine the agony and suffering that Jesus Christ endured on that wooden cross. It must have been a brutal (not to mention, excruciating) way to die ...
The more I think about this, the more baffled I become, especially since Jesus was totally blameless or did nothing wrong. He chose to die so that our sins could be forgiven: Jesus Christ loved us that much. He didn't want us to suffer the same fate so He died in our place.
This was part of the sermon that Pastor Bilkey preached this morning at church. It was a powerful message, so much, in fact, that I felt led to say "The Sinner's Prayer" and ask Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Saviour. I knew I was a sinner and needed God, so right in front of God and everybody, I went down front and prayed the Sinner's Prayer with one of the pastors up front.
I immediately felt the weight of the world lift up off my shoulders; it was as if the balloons of guilt and condemnation had left me. I felt at peace and knew without a shadow of a doubt that I was a new creature in Christ. I was now "born again".
My parents knew immediately that something about me was different: they could see it on my face and in my eyes. I felt different, too, but this time I felt happy. I knew that Mom and Dad were glad to hear of my salvation; they told me they had been praying for me for this day, that their dearest prayers had finally been realized.
I just hope that I will be able to talk to my friends about what happened to me this morning at church. I mean, I got the "Good News" and now my next goal is to share Jesus Christ with others. How hard could it possibly be??
