It belonged to my mother. When she died, I inherited it and it is now one of my most prized possessions. Isn't it beautiful?
Whenever I look at it, I think of my mother. Mom died three years ago of brain cancer; there isn't a day where I don't miss her or think of her. While I am glad that she is no longer in pain or suffering, the pain of her death doesn't make it easy for me. I miss her as much now as I do on the day she died.
Mom was only in her early fifties; she was way too young.
I also love wearing Mom's red coat because it's like she is giving me a huge hug from Heaven. I know she must be so much happier up there. She is with God, Jesus, and all the angels, and my baby brother as well. (My brother, Michael, died of crib death when he was but two weeks old, but I barely remember that. Had he lived, Michael would have been 19. I was a year old when he was born. So I really never knew him nor do I remember him.)
If anything were to happen to my mom's coat, I don't think I would ever forgive myself. Whenever I wear it, people remark about it and then I tell them about Mom. They think that it is a great idea about the hugs from Heaven and they can see how much she really meant to me.
