A woman suffering paralysis after a devastating car wreck is learning to put her life back together again.

My name is Fiona Faith Abercrombie.  I live in Rhineland, Wisconsin, with my parents.

I am currently in a rehab hospital, recovering from a car wreck and receiving physical, occupational, and emotional therapies.  It's been a very hard six months; but I am slowly learning to pick up the pieces and see that my life is not over, even though I may now be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life.

The accident was my fault, really.  I was driving too fast on rain-slickened roads and lost control.  I plowed right into the path of a semi truck in the opposite lane; he was coming in the opposite direction and that was the last thing I remember before everything went black.

I woke up; I was surprised to find myself in a hospital.  I have no idea how long I had been in or how long I had been out; they told me two days.  So that's two days I lost out of my life.  My injuries were devastating, to say the very least; it was a miracle that I was even alive.  But things could have been a lot worse, according to the doctors who tended to me.

When the shock of it wore off, I was determined to get better.  After spending a month in the hospital, I was then released to go to a rehabilitation facility, and this is where I am at now, receiving therapy and trying to adjust to "the new normal" that has become my life.

I know I will have plenty of bad days ahead of me, as I remember the old me verses the new me, but as I just said, I am determined to pick up my life and learn to do things from a sitting position.  Just because I am in a chair doesn't mean my lie has ended.  Oh, no.  Far from it.  I just have to learn to do things differently, that's all, and learn to trust God in all things, even in light of what has happened to me.

Just keep me in your prayers and pray that I get out of here soon.  I want to go back home to my family and to the life I had before all of this happened.  I would greatly appreciate any (and all) prayers!  Thanks in advance!

This is an excellent story Karen, if she has a positive attitude like it seems she does, I think she is going to make it...
