Home,Rachel was home, finally, she missed her family so
that when she arrived she kissed her husband as soon
as she got off the ship hug her children . Now she was .
When she got home however as soon as she put in time
with her children, made them dinner and said goodnight
she made time with her husband, but something was too
any time he got close to her she became hostile like too
when she was fighting the enemy, but she shouldn't she
was in fact home now,why the hostile reactions then to
everyone. The next day after apologizing to her husband
she went to see a pyschiatrist ,perhaps he could help.
After a hour talking he got up behind his desk, holding the
clipboard he'd took notes with and sat in front of her, she
almost reacted to him being close to her .
' Listen to me carefully Rachel,' he told her, trying to also
reassure her she would be alright,' You have what is call
Close Combat Fatigue,or CCF,you fought hand to hand too
in the war, using sharped objects like beyonets and knives,
guns too. to some hand to hand combat would be like what
people get when they're in close areas to long, like in subm-
arines, buses even planes, but sometimes CCF could be bad
couldn't it,you have to get toe to toe with the enemy .'
' Yes,' answered Rachel nervously,' very close, you ever get
real close to someone with bad odor that hasn't bathed nor
even shaved, like being next to a skunk, but it gets worse the
hell with CCF doctor,' she said,' Try and tell the difference in
fact between your husband and the enemy .'
' I want you to see me every week until I can be sure of your
reasonably out of danger not only to yourself but your family
please relax Rachel, you served your time, your home, live the
life you were meant to now,the king and country don't need
you any more . ' He watched her leave, but before she opened
the door to leave, she wanted to turn and say .
' It's never over.' Rachel went home and did everything that the
doctor told her, weeks passed and the hostility she'd felt slowly
faded, but the nightmares continued about the war .Images that
she saw, those people she killed, she remembered what she had
said to someone else, you never get use to the killing, never .
