My name is Ozzie Patrick.  I am 10 years old.  

I am trying to raise awarness of the need for a regular classroom for some of the kids at my school.  It seems that the kids who have disabilities are being taught in temporary classrooms when they should have a permanent classroom of their very own.

The school claims they don't have any funds.  I say different.  I say they are spending it on themselves or on stupid stuff like the brand new football stadium they built on the schoolgrounds last year.  It seems that sports take top honors over needy kids, and I'm sorry, but that's wrong!!  Very wrong!!

The classrooms that the kids with special needs go to now are drafty, ill equipped, cramped, and have old used desks and chairs that aren't that comfortable (I know; I sat on one once and it hurt my bum after about five minutes).  The kids deserve better.  Why are they having to go to these outdated rooms when they can have rooms that offer comfort, better lighting, better facilities geared to their needs, or better yet, a way to get to the classrooms easily?  (The kids who are on crutches have to labor up the stairs and the kids who use wheelchairs have to be carried up the steps, and some of the kids aren't that small, if you know what I mean.)

Our building is old, so they haven't made it easily accessible for the special kids.  The school board has often been in trouble for this, but so far they really haven't done much except push for that new stadium or help out the sporty kids.  I say their priorities are screwed up big time.

I am going to have to do some serious talking with the school board as well as with the teachers and the principal.  I may be a kid, but I see what's going on at my school, and I don't like it!  And I know others don't either!
