Faith

     The old man invites those who have gathered to share words to also share the shade of the Truth Tree. After all find their seats he begins, "Today we will speak of Faith."
     It grows silent and the old man is certain they expect to be with him for some time. He smiles, rises, and says, "Faith simply believes." 
     He turns to walk away but an almost frantic voice stops him.  "Sir, is this all you will say?"
     He smiles and says to them all, "There is really nothing more to be said. If you find yourself in the center of a complex life, believe in the simple things and you shall be more likely to see them. If you are surrounded by anger, believe in peace and you shall be more likely to feel it. If you find that you are mired in darkness, face it and believe there lies a new light somewhere within it.
     "Always believe in yourself. And even if you do not find what you are searching for, never lose faith. It may not be the right time or place for you or that which you seek. But never, under any circumstance, stop believing. Therein lies your faith."
     He bids them all farewell and continues on his way. They are stunned by the brevity of his words and remain seated in silence. They understand that again he has left them to discover within themselves the power of faith, the miracle of believing, and the strength of their spirits.
     The old man is too far away to hear their whispers of appreciation but they know he understands their silence. His words echo in every heart. His gift settles into every soul. And the Creator smiles and is pleased.
