My son look up at me and asked why did the terrorists do that today in Boston I shook my head and told him I had no answer but in fact I was lying, they did it because of hate or violence or just plain wanting to prove in fact they could do it, but how do you tell that to a five year old or any child while their own home was being destroyed or attacked . Cultures were being destroyed by these people, our culture was being raped and destroyed by the people that hated it, the American culture was in fact rich and filled with history like going to the Moon, having fast airplanes or cars ,the very internet and cable tv , other countries don't have such rich culture like ours,they're envious is all I could say to my son . Then my son made the smartest comment I ever had heard anyone say in my life,' Why don't we sheer what we have if we're so rich then they're stop.' Or would they ?
I have traveled to other countries and have many friends from other countries. They do not envy us and have rich cultures of their own. However, there are those who are oppressed, either politically or economically, who wish to come to the United States, even though their image, sometimes from movies and stories of riches, is sometimes shattered by the difficulty living in a depressed economy like we have today.
No, there's plenty of hatred in this country to go around. I believe that it was somebody local with an ax to grind who may have been just crazy enough to do it. There have been many bombings in the last twenty years in the United States and there will be bombings to come, but we should not worry that the United States is being attacked because of some crackpots who create minor damage but claim inordinate media attention. Death and injury by bombing is one of the very low statistics in United States. We should look at it that way and not that is some huge threat that we need to spend billions to thwart.
