I have a dog. His name is Mr. Peanut. He is a Papillon.
He is black and white with very furry ears and an adorable expression on his face. He is very small: he weighs less than 6 pounds; he is what is known as a "toy breed" of dog. He won't get any bigger; he will always be little.
We got Mr. Peanut at the local animal shelter; we got him as a birthday gift to my mom. She is his owner, but all of us take care of him. I like to feed and water him as well as take him on walks when the weather is nice. Mr. Peanut enjoys it; he doesn't know a stranger. He is a very sociable little dog; he loves everybody, even the neighborhood cats and big dogs who are three times his size.
Most of the time, Mr. Peanut is no trouble, but last year, he got very sick; we thought we might lose him. He got into something he shouldn't and got poisoned somehow; he ended up having to go to the veterinary emergency clinic and had to stay there a few days so the veterinarians there could treat and watch over him. It was a very scary time. Yet he got better; that was a huge answer to prayer!!
Mr. Peanut is my best firend. He loves to lay right by me when I do my homework or watch television, and sometimes when the weather is cold, he will sleep with me. He is scared of storms; whenever a storm pops up, he will dive under the covers and whine like a little baby. I then have to hold him and talk softly to him until he stops trembling or whining.
Dad is always saying that we need to get him a "Thunder Shirt", which is advertised on tv. I don't know; I really don't trust stuff that is shown on tv; a lot of the time, things seen on tv don't work and aren't all cracked up what they claim to be.
Well, I hate to go, but it's time to take Mr. Peanut for his evening walk; I will then give him his nightly supper and change his water; I'll probably then go to bed, as I have school in the morning. I hope you enjoyed reading about my mom's dog, even though he really belongs to all of us. I really love Mr. Peanut; he is definitely "top dog" in my book! :)
