How did I end up with so many books?

I never imagined that I would write a whole saga of 10 books or more. I originally intended to write my autobiography. I wanted to write about what my life has been like living with mental illness. I wanted to add one paragraph about the daydreams I had when I was a teenager. That paragraph grew to several paragraphs. Several paragraphs grew into a chapter. I took that chapter out of my autobiography and focussed on that instead. That chapter became a book. That book became so large that I had to split into two books. Two books became 3, then 4, then 5 ...

When I published the first edition of The Lost Boy, a literary agent said 178,000 words was far too big for a first time author and for the first book in a science fiction series. I then split that big fat book into two smaller stories: The Lost Boy and Long-Lost Brother. Now I have at least 10 books in this saga to publish.

I did not set out to write so much. I started with a single paragraph! Once I set down to writing, the whole story just exploded like a massive creative bomb and the ideas wouldn't stop!

You might say that the universe of Beneath the Surface began with a Big Bang!
