     Listen To Your Parents

Once upon a time in a forest high in the mountains lived a community of wolves. There were daddy wolves,  there were mother wolves, and their little wolves. Some were twins and some were triplets.
They lived in a cave because it was cold where they lived. Sometimes it would snow all night and all day. The wolves had thick winter coats to keep them warm and they snuggled close to their mothers.
When the birds came back to the trees, and the snow filled the mountain streams, with fresh water, the babies were strong enough to go outside to play.
Mother wolf said, "Don't go too far, something my get you and eat you up."
The one called Bold said, "I am strong and I am brave, nothing can get me."
Mother wolf said, "Mind what I tell you, young man." He twitched his tail and went outside followed by his brother, Howl.
Howl stopped a little way outside and called to his brother, "Bold, mother said not to go too far. Don't you think you have gone far enough?"
"No,"said Bold. "I can't find new stuff if I stay here." He kept walking. "I need to practice hunting and pouncing and I can't do that if I stay around the cave.
Howl took a few more step following behind his brother, then he said again, "Bold, that is far enouth." He looked back toward the cave to see just how far they had come. "Something will happen to you. " Bold kept walking switching his tail and his nose in the air.
Howl said, "I'm going to tell."
Bold ran back to where his brother stood and cuffed him with his paw.
"You  must come with me then you cannot tell," said Bold as he cuffed him a little harder.
Howl began to cry and ran back toward the opening of the cave. When he got far enough so that Bold could not get him, he ran as fast as his short legs would carry him.
   Mother! Mother!, Howl called.
"What is it; what is the matter?" She asked, alarmed.
"Bold is gone,"  he got out between sniffles.
"Gone where," she asked with fear in her voice.
"Just gone, Howl said looking at his mother with sad eyes. "looking for stuff."
   "What stuff," Mother said.
   "I don't know", cried Howl
Mother Wolf began walking back and forth, too and fro, trying to decide what to do. Them, she went outside of the cave and threw her head back and let out  a howl. She waited for a reply.
Soon, howls came from all directions. They were coming to help. Mother wolves snd father wolves came from near and far. It was getting dark. The sun was down and when that happened in the forest, night came. The danger for ittle wolves in the forest was greater. The night hunters came out to hunt and find their dinner, and a little disobedient wolf alone woud make a tasty meal.
When they had all gathered, the Alpha wolf, the leader of the pack gave the instructions and they all set out in different directions. Some of the mother wolves stayed behind to care for and protect the babies and the youngsters. The search parties searched all night.
Just as a streak of light touched the horizon, a howl echoed through the forest, then another, and then another. Bowl had been found.
The search party arrived at the cave where young bold and his family lived. He was still shaking, his coat was rumpled and full of debris.
"Where did you find him", asked Mother Wolf.
"He was hiding under a pile of thickets and covered with leaves and stuff," replied the leader of the search party. He was being watched and circled by some wolvers who planned to have his for dinner."
One of the young males added, "We had to fight."
"We were too many and too strong for them," added another
"They were old and sick." said another.
Mother wolf went over to her son and nuzzled him.
"The Alpha male said, "Listen children, this is why you must always listen to your parents. They know what is best to protect you. There is a big danger filled world out there and everyone in it   is not like  family even if they do look like you. Bold here, could have run into a farmer with one of those long noise makers called a gun and all would be over.
Sounds of agreement could be heard among the gathering. Mother Wolves nuzzled their young and licked them lovingly.
Then Bold looked at hs mother and brother and said, I'm sorry; I will listen next time.
