What if September 11, 2001 never happened?

Would our lives be like they were beforehand, free from worry or fear?  Would we continue to be able to trust people as we once did?

Somehow I doubt things will ever be return to the happy, carefree, halycon days prior to that horrible, awful, unforgettable day.  Because of September 11, 2001, we no longer trust one another and we tend to be suspicious of those who are of Arabic (or Middle Eastern) descent or those who practice the Islamic (Muslim) faith.

I am not surprised.  After all, it was foreigners who used planes as bombs and ended up killing nearly 3,000 men, women, and children ... and chanced the New York City skyline and left the Pentagon vulnerable and scarred forever.

I wish September 11, 2001 never happened.  If it hadn't, we would enjoy going anywhere our hearts desired, being able to go through airports, train (or bus) stations, or other venues without care, and not wory about whether we were going to be injured (or possibly even killed) by unknown (or unseen) enemies.

But becuase September 11, 2001 did happen, we have to live with the grim reality of being under constant scrutiny or threat of further attacks from countries who hate America and all that she stands for, being at war with nations in the Middle East, and having to deal with increased security measures. 

The world we once had prior to September 11, 2001 no longer exists.  We now live in a new chapter of life that nobody wants and like it or not, we must learn to deal with it and try not to let terrorism rule our very way of living.

Now that the 12th anniversary of September 11, 2001 quickly approaching, we must once again face the memories we'd like to forget, and deal with video footage of the attacks and once again deal with threats (and even the possibility of war with Syria).  I don't like it any better than anybody else, but this is reality, folks, and we must come to terms and try to prevent another attack such as the one that occurred on September 11, 2001 from happening again on our shores (or anywhere else, for that matter).

God have mercy upon America!!  And God, have mercy upon US as a people!!  May we never forget!!
