These beasts: which I want to tell you about, they are horses, mules and donkeys.
In spite of the fact, that these animals are closely related; somehow, they are not the best of friends. Well, one might ask! “Why aren’t they?” And, I could reply, “I don’t know.” Then, is there any who knows? Well, there is an observer, a bird, who said this! “There are many birds, which, are flocking around these animals; but there is one in particular, who is very close to them. This special bird, feeds on parasites, which live on these animals; it is the one who knows, why those beasts are not friends.”
This same bird, who is known as Freddie; claims that by being with the animals from day to day, more than once it overheard them arguing. Someone asked Freddie, what can you tell us, that you’ve heard the animals argued about? “Oh! This and that,” replied Freddie. Well, how could one who asked a question, expect to be totally satisfied with “this and that,” for an answer? I’ll tell you! This unsatisfied individual again, asked Freddie to interpret “this and that.”
Mind you! Freddie was careful of, not wanting to gossip on his friends; nevertheless, he was pressured to explain “this and that.” In the end, he testified! And, this was his testimony “the problem he said was favouritism: the shepherds weren’t entirely fair.” He continues to say this! “Even though, these animals feed in the same pasture, and are living on the same farm, they weren’t all treated equally.”
The horses, in the sight of the shepherds, they were seen as “Royalty”, and they were cared for in like manner. The mules, the shepherds considered those to be the “Dukes,” and they were also, cared for as dukes. The donkeys! Said Freddie, and shaking his head; “they were looked at as slaves, and they were all treated in a slavish manner. That is what is causing the animals to be nasty with each other, instead of being friendly.”
Now, because of all that, God might have intervened, news got around to the owner, in relation to the unfair treatment, mainly to the poor little donkeys. Then, the owner takes action; and after, he queries the problem with the shepherds, he declares equal rights for all his animals. Consider this! In the first place, it was not the will of the animals to be treated in any superior way; therefore, they went along with the equality enforcement without any fuss.
Following the enforcement, did it make those animals any less or, any more friendly? “No!” Actually it didn’t! “At least not right away." Donkeys were always grumbling about being over burdened. The truth is this: as most donkeys are kind-hearted in nature; they were always forced to work harder than the mules, which is unfair, since mules are much bigger, and stronger.
Why then, were donkeys continually looked at as the beasts of burden, abused and pressured to work harder than, those powerful horses and the mighty mules? Hardly could one find an answer, which could satisfy such a question; however, if I should comment here; I’d have to say, it is because donkeys choose to be kind, they have been done for with disadvantage. Donkeys are too humble; so everyone will want to use them. If they don’t learn how to refuse work, they’ll ever be paying, the price of suffering with hard work.
Here again, injustice can sometimes cause, great distress upon any living thing. Acknowledging that! We should try our best to be fair in all our actions. Mules, donkeys, and horses, had a debate to see if they could find a way, how to live more sincere, and peaceful with each other. Eventually, they found a solution to rid the evil-prejudice from amongst them. They realised that they are beasts, and beasts they’ll always be; so no man, said the animals, “even by means of inferior treatment; should cause prejudice to strive with us.”
We must make some changes said the mules, “We can’t have colt, or any young one to look after; therefore, we should try and humble ourselves; so, as to help out with more of the work. We shouldn’t be leaving so much of it to horses, and the poor little donkeys; since they have colt, and have to look after their young.” Hearing that! Donkeys, all sighed, the sigh of relief, but the horses’ they laughed, and smiling they said “after-all it is us only, who are bringing home the money from the races.”
Donkeys, indicating that mules have spoken fairly, they said, “as a matter of fact, mules, for too long, you’ve been getting away with, much idleness.” In gladness, all the donkeys began braying ha ha, ha, hey, hey, hey, ha, ha, ha. Ever since then, to this day, the animals united in the knowledge of what they really are, and live accordingly. The beasts found out for themselves that, their purpose here is to be of service to man. In which case, they won’t be able to refuse doing as is required of them; but as, to be envious of each other that, they will avoid.
Organizing themselves, they feed, drink, and finally learn to live together in a much better way. Then, do you think that, it has been the will of God, for the animals to be peaceful? Surely! I have no doubt about it. Yes, it is God’s will. It seems to me, that evil will try to direct the path of man, given the chance, and especially in disguise. Why do I think that? Because, it is obvious! Whenever, man tries to do things following after his own imagination; it sometimes, turns out into envy and strife. Oh! And, why is that? It is because we don’t judge fairly most of the time.
You see! Man will elevate some people, to very great heights; while, they drop down others, to the lowest level. This they can do, and without, even noticing any wrong in doing so. Actually, that is the plain fact; it is just the way most people perceive life; so, they operate in that same manner. Blessed be the family of beasts; horses, mules, and donkeys; they spotted the evil, which, perhaps was unintentionally planted among them, by shepherds taking sides, and they got rid of it, before any further damage….
Since then, it is evident, the animals move around from pasture to pasture and are living peacefully, in lasting harmony. However, if you can remember rightly! At the beginning I’d mentioned that horse, mule, and donkey; they were closely related. I’m “right,” it is a fact! What I didn’t say however, was how close; well, they are very close indeed. To this day, some people could be surprised, when they learn that a mule can only, be produced by, coupling a horse with a donkey. “Usually a mare to a male ass.”
In any case, it makes no difference to mules, which of the two beasts is, their mother or their father. The fact is, they came by them; and that is for sure. We can note this as, another mystery of the Creator. Horses accept mules, donkeys accept mules, and, we also accept all of the animals. Who knows, perhaps the world wouldn’t be the same, without having the “Hybrid” mules into it? All creatures are here for a purpose; even, such as these animals.
For instance, horses are here mainly for riding and racing. Donkeys also, serving their purpose by hard working. Horse and donkey, one could say, they brought forth the mule, so that the mule would be able to help them with carrying their burdens, which is placed upon them by man. Sharing burden is a very good thing; it can help to alleviate pains and pressures, from any life.
Mules are very strong, and brutish animals; owing to their brutishness most people don’t like them; then, because of their nasty attitude, many people don’t enjoy working them; so, they let them alone. Anyway, since mules now, decide to be more humble, in order to help the donkeys and horses carry their burdens it is good. “Rightly considered as a relief by donkeys” and, what a relief it is indeed!
At this point, from previous declaration, all readers should easily determine for themselves, how much these animals are closely related. You can’t go wrong; as long as you are mindful of this fact; mules will not remain in existence, unless, horse be bred with donkey, frequently. So then, even for that reason alone, mules should show some more generosity toward their parents. No wonder they said this: “we are to humble ourselves; we will get rid of our wicked nature, and we will be kind at heart; we must try to be more helpful.” Yes, all that! Mules said in their prayer before going to bed.
The following day horses and donkeys were up first having their breakfast; the grass was quite fresh, and juicy due to some over night rain. A little later, the mules also arose, and looked across at horses and donkeys; with smiling faces; they greeted them. They did their greetings in a happy fashion: one could say they did it, in the spirit of kindness; besides, right away, the mules all volunteer to help the donkeys with their work.
It is apparent, since that day, until today: horses, mules and donkeys; learn to live together, they feed and drink at the same place; and they maintain a fairly good animal, family relationship. Thanks be to God, who shows these animals the light, they take advantage of it, and they rid evil from their midst. Perhaps, it is because of that, why mules are still in existence today, in that case, your guess is as good as any.
Looking for answers, what shall we say then, if animals can spot evil, and get rid of it, and prosper; then, everything else can, even us “human.” Let us just give God thanks for the animals. What's more, let us also, give more thanks to Him for all His goodness; and for all that He has created. The end!!!
