After a week of snow and ice my wife decided I should clean off the sidewalk and driveway.
The Snowman

After a week of cold and snow I decided I should clean off my sidewalk and driveway. There was a good 6 inches of snow on the ground which was unusual for April. The snow was a wet snow, the kind that was good for making snowballs and snowmen.
As I was shoveling off the snow I noticed that my neighbor’s kids had built a large snowman on their lawn next to my driveway. They had done a really good job. It had the coal eyes and even a pipe in its mouth.
I started singing Frosty the Snowman as I was shoveling.
“Why you have a good voice,” I heard someone say. “You know that’s my favorite song.”
I looked around, but there wasn’t anyone there, just me and that snowman. I shook my head and went back to shoveling.
“Excuse me Sir, do you mind if I ask a favor of you?” The voice said. Again I looked about but there still wasn’t anyone there.
“Who is talking,” I ask?
“I am, over here, the snowman.”
“Yeah right,” I said as I looked around for someone. “What do you want?
“Well Sir as you know the weather is going to warm up and since I’m made of snow I won’t last very long. I was wondering if you could move me over to Mr. Johnson’s meat locker so I can survive until it gets cold again. He’s not using it anymore since he got sick, so I’m sure he wouldn’t mind.”
I know I’m not crazy. There’s got to be an explanation for what’s going on? This can’t be happening. I look around again and there is no one out and about except myself and that snowman. “Alright this is a good joke but I’m not buying it. Where are you hiding?”
“I’m not hiding I’m right here,” said the voice.
I slowly walked over to the snowman and looked at him closely.
“What’s the matter haven’t you ever seen a snowman before or is it the fact that I can talk that has you confused?” The voice asks.
“Snowmen don’t talk,” I said.
“Well if they don’t, who are you talking to,” the voice asked?
I was about to reply when I saw the window curtains on my neighbor’s house move. ”Well I believe I am talking to Mike Foster and he has frozen his brain making snowmen.”
The voice started laughing “We had you going for a minute there. I could see it in your face.”
“Well it was a good joke but remember Mike, paybacks are terrible and the wait is unbearable.”

What a wonderful, playful trick to play on your neighbors! Thanks for sharing your ghostly experience with the cold breath of winter breathing down your neck. It could have been scary if it wasn't so funny.
