In the 1950's, a father leaves his daughter, Celia, with a suitcase of her belongings to a Hollywood director after her mother has had a miscarriage and is in emotional distress--thinking this is in her best interests. Later, at 19, she finds herself at a window looking out while her now director-lover has orgies behind her. With no interest of this and she sets out into the open world on her own, pregnant and not knowing who's it is.
