Had I known I'd be dumped by a child I raised...would I raise the child all over again?
Hard question...Similar to loving someone and having them "dump" you, is how I have been feeling about my adopted daughter not communicating or wanting to have a relationship with any of her adoptive family any more.
I feel sad, empty, out of sorts, and distracted at times. I feel rejected, dumped, and insecure.
Perhaps that is how many people who are adopted feel in their adoptive homes... If so, I guess I know how that feels...now.
I love my daughter. I miss my daughter. But I feel "dumped." I wonder if she realizes how she is making me feel. I wonder if she cares. I hope she's happy. That's all I can do, now...hope.
Being dumped is not restricted to being an adoptive parent. It often happens with our own birth children. Sometimes our children do not know how to cut the apron strings, and feel the need to strike out on their own and become totally independent. I pray that your daughter will do as most kids do and come back to you once she has established her own independence.

I always come to your post to read what you have to share. Although I do not have an adopted child (I do have an adopted grandchild but never I refer to him as adopted--he is my grandchild)I can truly empathize with you. I don't believe for one instance that your daughter has dumped you. Somehow kids feel they need to srike out on their own and do it in the wrong way. Maybe embarrasment has played a part in non communication. They know deep in their hearts that what they have done has caused great pain but can't swallow their pride to say those two hardest words in the English language..I'm sorry. Don't give up on her. Be there when she phones. She will! God will be there for you and I will too. Love.
I really do understand. I'm an adopted kid and yes, that's how I feel at times. Hope your daughter will come around, but I'm proud of you for caring enough to let her go. My prayers are with you.

I can't understand why S. does not contact any of you. I feel your pain. You raised her with love and compassion and gave her the best. Does she have a new address or a phone I could contact? I miss her too Lynn. I miss the wonderful relationshi[p you two were enjoying before she left and started a new life.
