It's a wee bit late to write about Christmas, but I just read an article on the den which encouraged me to share my family Christmas with all of you.
On NOV 28, the weekend after Thanksgiving, three of my sons helped to decorate the outside and inside of our home. Christmas music was playing as they got the boxes from the attic and started putting up white moving lights around the roof. Red lights were put around the windows and on the bushes. The Nativity was placed on the lawn and lighted moving reindeer were added to the scene. Red and white candy canes were on each side of the drive way. It all looked quite festive.
A seven foot artificial tree stood in the corner of the living room and was decorated with silver garland, blue lights and various colored bulbs. The angel looked beautiful wearing a silver colored dress as she graced the top of the tree. A six foot singing, dancing Santa stood near by. It was delightful to see adults and children sing and dance with him! Every room in the house was decorated.
I love Christmas and during that special time of year, the holiday feelings fill my heart and home.
Everyone that comes to our house feels the Christmas spirit.
This year on Christmas Eve, most of my entire family went to the candlelight service at our church. It was a time of reverence as we celebrated to birth of Jesus. My heart rejoyced because my children were with me! After church, I read "The Night Before Christmas at my daughter's home, as I do every year. All listened attentively as read I the age old story.
We listened to Christmas music, then went to bed to await Santa's arrival. He always comes to our house.
On Christmas morning there were about 22 at our home for a family tree. We gave secret Santa gifts and had a grand time. Special angels were hung on the tree in honor of my husband, Richard, Baby Joshua and my mother, Lois.
Later in the day we ate dinner at our house. My sons and Mona, helped prepare the meal. We all gave thanks for the blessings that the good Lord has given to our family.
No matter what happens in life, we are a family! We gather together, unite,help and share. Life has come full circle since my husband passed away and we are all together again.
This was our fourth Christmas without him. We all felt his presence and took comfort knowing he was near by.
OH, MARY GRACE, HOW BEAUTIFUL!!!! I ACTUALLY SAW AND FELT THE HAPPINESS! THE IMAGERY IN YOUR STORY IS FANTASTIC! YOUR JOY SPILLED OVER WITH EVERY LINE. I DO SO ENVY(IN A GODLY WAY) FAMILIY GATHERINGS THAT ARE FILLED WITH GENUINE LOVE, CARE AND SHARING! I WAS IN TOUCH WITH ALL MY FAMILY FOR CHRISTMAS AND WAS CONTENTED TO KNOW THEY WERE HAPPY AS THEY CELEBRATED 'HIS' BIRTH. I WAS NOT ALONE...YOU KNOW JESUS' PRESENCE AND LOVE FILLED ME WITH JOY AND I BASKED IN HIS PEACE THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING! THANKS FOR SHARING, MY FRIEND, GOD IS SO GOOD AND YOU AND YOUR FAMILY TOTALLY REFLECTS THIS! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
It is really wonderful that you can have so much of your family around at Christmas time. Our family is so far-flung that it has been many years since we have been together for Christmas.
