
Life is a Cesspool…and then you Die
The American Ideal is mostly an empty-headed dufus who can barely walk and chew gum at the same time. They breed excessively. Their followers are hangers on who love to kiss their master’s asses till their poisoned brains fall out. It’s true . Magnify these perverted examples of procreation and sycophants a million fold across positions of power in all walks of life and you have met the enemy. They are a hideous group of pretenders and wannabes who nevertheless believe they are destined for greatness. If you agree with me, then you are one of us—those who toss and turn in anguish every time we see this portrait in puffery play itself out. How apt the quote that tells of their contribution to life:
To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day,
To the last syllable of recorded time;
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury
Signifying nothing. --(MacBeth, Act 5, Scene 5)
The difference is that you and I are the idiots. We don’t want to join them, so we avoid them while they multiply; hence the chasm of anguish.
Yes, if you are employed almost anywhere you almost certainly have one of these jerks for a boss. And you stopped scratching your head long ago while wondering how this person ever found his way into the position that you are sublimely qualified to hold. So you move on and find that his twin occupies the same position in the next job—and your search goes on and on ad infinitum in search of a place where sanity prevails. But you just can’t escape the bastards.
Where, how, why, and what the hell happened in our society that let mediocrity—less 30 IQ points—rise to the top? And isn’t this about 95 percent of the reasons why we are fast becoming a nation of misfits and ne’re-do-wells who haven’t got a clue about almost everything? Even Donald Trump—who heads the dufus list—recognizes that something is amiss. “We don’t win at anything any more!” he extols. Well, yes, Donald, you are right. And you are why.
This has nothing to do with sour grapes. But it is definitely sour. It all probably started long ago when mothers began telling their children they could grow up to become president. Just look at the list of candidates who fell for that line in 2016. There’s no need to count them. They are all in that bunch. Mothers of the world: Stop giving your clueless kids hope! Please!
In-breeding plays a big role in our flawed DNA power structure that is on display for all the world to see. George Carlin nailed it when he said: “Did you ever notice that most of these a**holes are people you wouldn’t want to f**k in the first place?” Yes, that observation is true , but somebody is doing it. And if it’s not those creepy cling-ons, then who is helping them multiply?
Shiverin’ shish kabob!
I once went to work as a research consultant in a large corporation. My job was to dig deep into the bowels of the organization, weed out issues that impede creativity and employee satisfaction, expunge them, and hope like hell that morale, productivity, and profits improved as a result. What more could you ask of a company with 20,000 employees? Sounds rather progressive, right?
Wrong. The head of this department was a certified, dyed-in-the-wool, right-wing, Bible totin’, evangelical, part time preacher whose only concern in life was to find new ways to pollute minds with his brand of truth. His boss was the second in command of the corporation, and the guy who gave me the assignment. It was in the form of a questionnaire that was part of his wife’s MBA thesis. She had some enlightened ideas about how to improve working conditions. He asked me to test it and see if it had any promise.
The questionnaire passed all the tests of reliability, validity, and usefulness with flying colors. It circulated among all middle managers for completion. After analysis it also identified three underlying clusters that permeated the corporation like a cancer. The number one issue? My boss is a jerk! Second place: He/She takes all the credit for everything I do. Third, fourth, and fifth: I don’t trust this a**hole at all; I can’t confide in him; and I wish that one of us were dead.
In the ensuing weeks I was in constant consultation with the CEO and his side kick. I pointed out that I was not the originator of the questionnaire, but the results nevertheless had passed all the tests of science. It was a valid indicator that hiring, firing and promotion practices were suspect, and they needed to be reviewed with any eye toward excellence in results and reliance on facts as opposed to presumption and self praise.
One of the first victims to feel the wrath of Kahn? You guessed it. Me.
