When we look over our life as senior citizens, we should be proud of everything except the conditions we could not change. Many people are afraid to move forward because they are afraid people would conjure up past mistakes that do not define them today. There are notable celebrities today that have made mistakes and found ways to persevere, and you can persevere if you are serious of transforming your image. However, the reality is that society does not forgive or forget, and it would benefit a person to carve their own change in the world and let their new image speak for itself. There are people that have made mistakes in life, and the community wants to keep them criminals. A celebrity cheats on his wife and every one team up to crucify the character of the man. For instance, like Tiger Woods and Jesse James, I understand what they did was wrong, but it is between them and their wives. The world in which we live, build it's finances and livelihood on negativity, and trying to get their approval on your change would be difficult. If there are wives that refrain from sex with their husbands because of attraction or have fallen out of love, then that man should divorce that woman or seek counseling. Society is so hypocritical, see, because they assert they want strict legislation for criminals, and want to ostracize people that have made criminal backgrounds. However, employers will not hire anyone with a criminal record, and still do not want their homes burglarized. An atone criminal puts an application in for employment, which is a sign he wants to change, and if society deny him employment, how would that person support himself legally. Although some of us were unfaithful, if we expatiate our wrongs, and avert from our nefarious past, why not love us again?
Responsibility
For one to discard the shame of their past mistakes, one must accept responsibility for their wrongs. Love is powerful, and cheaters need to revisit the pain they caused people to appreciate hurt and retribution. When a woman lay down and open her legs to someone other than her husband or boyfriend, the thought of someone grinding in and out of their woman is all that goes through their mind. On the other hand, if a man is caught cheating, the hurt wife or woman incorporates the sinful and lustrous acts he committed to that woman. Accepting responsibility may do less to compensate for the hurt, but it is consciously expedient. Unfortunately, accepting responsibility could be a dagger in the heart, because a person may admit their wrong to the person they hurt, and that confession could make the hurt worse. A person can say, “I am sorry, I did hurt you”, and the reply from the receiver could be, “If you know you were hurting me, why spit in my face with the lies?” Accepting responsibility is a personal affirmation that leads one towards reformation supported by courage.
While I do not agree entirely with what you have written, I agree with most. I don't think that sexual transgressions should become societal areas of discussion and legalities. We are not by nature monogamous. But we have a moral system of one husband, one wife, one family that persists and lords over all other relationships. Once we open up our thinking to the possibilities, many of these conflicts will go away.
Our judicial system is founded on the premise that we pay for our transgressions when we serve our terms of imprisonment. But society has come to the conclusion that we have not paid our debt by imprisonment, but must continue to pay our debt by not being able to vote or to get a full-time job because we are tainted. (I am not, but I have friends that are--it's a disgrace). It is time, in the 21st century that we come up with a way to rehabilitate people who have either intentionally or unintentionally become described as, "criminals." Once we do that, we will be on the way to a much better future for all of us.
