God still does miracle today, He is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow. These are a few of the miracles I have had. It caused me to be a believer.
Miracles in my life
This morning I was meditating and praying, reading the bible. I felt so at peace and happy. I felt the presence of God in my office. I love the peace and quiet. Not a sound could I hear. Some people would hate that, but I love the sound of silence. I can hear God better. No distractions and that is the key.
I am the stage of my life where I don't like loud music, loud voices, or big crowds of people. I love intimate groups of people, around a dinner table, or in a living room, sharing conversation. Talking about life, telling good stories, talking about God, Jesus, singing songs. some about Jesus, some old favorite songs. Or just being silent an enjoying each others company. Without the TV. But, that is just me. To each his own.
So today, I was contemplating and asking God what I should do today. Go to church? Lately it is hard for me to hear the sermon, if the preacher doesn't talk in the microphone, I can't hear the words clearly, and i am always asking Liz, what did he say? I didn't go last week, because I stayed here with Jack our dog, who was dying. He died that afternoon. We have been missing Jack all week. The house is so empty, and lonely. A pet you have had for 12 years is one of the family. Julie and I keep looking for him to be where he usually is. And find ourselves start to talk to him! I know it will get better as the time goes by. Today I just want to spend my Sunday morning alone with Jesus.
YOU know God is faithful, because I always find the answer in my bible. I was led to read 2 Kings 4:1-36, about how Elisha did miracles for the destitute widow and the Shunammite woman. As I read it over and over again, I realized Elisha was very compassionate and had a gift of healing and mercy too. He was like Jesus he always felt mercy and love when he performed miracles. He felt empathy for the woman who had bill collectors knocking at her door, and she had no money or food for her children. So Elisha performed the miracle of all those vats of oil, so she could sell them and get money for food for her sons.
Then Elisha prayed for the Shunammite woman's son, who was lying dead on his bed, and Elisha felt compassion for the woman because he had prayed for the woman to have child, when she was barren and she had been so happy with her little boy, then he had gotten sick and died. Elisha came a long ways to pray for the boy. And he came back to life, and the mother was so happy. And Elisha didn't want any big crowds around when he did the miracles.
And I got to thinking how God has healed me many times right in my home.
1. One time I was so depressed, an it went on for days and then weeks. Suddenly one day, I was by myself and dusting furniture, and the depression suddenly lifted and my sadness turned to joy, in a second. I had been praying and friends were praying for me, for weeks. Then suddenly I felt so happy and it lasted and I was totally healed- a miracle.
2. One time I was in such pain I couldn't walk, and had gone to many doctors, and to not avail. I had been prayed for so many times. The pain didn't leave. One day suddenly in my house, the pain left. A miracle.
3. Last year, I was so sick with intestinal sickness, nausea, diarrhea, and weakness. No appetite. Went to doctors had test, and ex-rays, and medicine. Prayers galore. To no avail. I was very sick for three months.
That night while in bed I tried to pray. I could only pray the 23rd Ps. I got stuck on "Yea thought I walk through the Valley of Death, I will fear not evil" I said it over and over till I went to sleep. Next day I realized I was healed. I was not sick I have had no problem since that time. Another miracle.
4. Last month suddenly I had pain in my back and my hip. It came on suddenly. For about 10 days, I had to walk with a cane, but still I had that pain, even when was in bed. I could not roll over because of the excruciating pain. I stayed home - going from my chair in my office, to my recliner - to my bed. I was so depressed. I kept praying, Lord help me. Jesus help me. One night I went to the kitchen, was standing by the sink - in tears from the pain. I walked to the fridge and suddenly I realized I didn't have my cane, and I had no pain. I was healed in that instant. No pain since that day. Suddenly, it was a miracle.
I have many more stories about miracles in my life and my family. I will write about them later some day. I have already written stories about miracles. I will gather them together for a book
Jesus showed me mercy and compassion. He loves me and I love him most of all.
Elisha always did miracles for people, alone and not in front of big crowds. He had more miracles than Elijah, maybe because he told Elijah he wanted double the anointing that Elijah had. Then Elijah prayed for Elisha. And it happened just as he asked. He did more miracles than Elijah. So maybe it's true , what Jesus said, "Ask and you shall receive".
I am a walking miracle and I don't ask why. I just receive.
After a long awaited weekend visitation caused by false allegations of sexual abuse, Glen got to see his children for the first time in over two months. He promised them that they would never be apart again and then they disappeared.
This book is an autobiographical account of the lessons I learned about life and how I was able to apply them to inspire, motivate and empower others in my own work as a firefighter, as well in my daily life as a husband, a father and a man. When I w
