How to Organize At The Ghetto Level To the Top of Society: Chapter Nine
Justice is the initial component we will inaugurate as part of how we see best to organize our society. But exactly how justice will be administered is another matter altogether.
Preliminarily, we can see Justice can be administered by a wise man or group of wise men in a village setting, by the King’s representatives, by a jury of one’s peers, by some select members of the group,or by a group of property holders or by Judges which is how we do it.
So there are choices to be made here.
We will come back later to choose one or several for our society since we see that babies as young as three months have a sense of justice or a sense of fairness. Seemingly, it is built in.
The second component we look at is “Freedom.” It is an easy one to identify, but what exactly do we mean by the term “freedom?”
All all men free, born free?
Well many different connotations are meant here.
Our Founding Generation meant that only men, property holding men, not women, not blacks, not slaves, not non-property holding men were free, or at least had the ability to participate in politics.
Freedom here is meant, in the political sense, the capacity to participate in the deliberations of how the polity would be governed.
Freedom here meant the capacity to participate in politics, decide policy for the society and for government.
Well American society can be seen historically as how other parts of our society have clamored to be enfranchised and as having seen as having the ability to participate in society as do men.
Aligned with this view was the idea that one person equals one vote. But we we see this has changed dramatically as a “vote” is now defined as confabulated with free speech; a rich person can have, in fact, more votes, than a poor person, by virtue of money, for advertising, for influencing politicians, for internet and TV ads. Money, were are told is the same as a vote. The more money the more votes we have because speech is defined as money and its influence in politics because corporations has been defined as a “person” within the meaning of the 1st amendment guaranteeing free speech.
