Summary of Accomplishments and Plans
June 13, 2018 – November 19, 2018
Accomplishments:
· Completed seven more short-story memoirs (74 pages) since June 12, 2018 (“Adventures with Elsa,” “Bells and Whistles Galore,” “Wankie Colliery,” “The Pentagon,” “Tinkering at Tinker,” “Up, Up, and Away,” and “A Good Monster”). Total pages completed thus far: 634 (166,522 words); 55 stories done, 65 to go.
o Purpose – To share my journey through alcoholism and bipolar disorder to serving Jesus Christ as a Christian medical missionary. (Stories are posted on www.AuthorsDen.com)
o Hired Nicaraguan artist, Tomás Gutiérrez, to sketch illustrations for my stories.
· Since June 1, 2017 – Worked for Gardens Alive as a contracting Systems Analyst:
o Work the first and third weeks of each month on-site in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Work remotely from Lewisport other weeks.
· Created and remotely maintained K2 Marine’s manufacturing and accounting software in Knoxville, Arkansas since 1996.
· Have a fantastic relationship with my wife, Bobbie. She accompanied me on my last five Christian medical missions to Nicaragua and has been collaborating with me in writing my autobiography since November 2014. We have a blast going on missions together and working on my book!
· Achieved 9 years of sobriety as of September 28, 2018.
· Six and a half years without smoking cigarettes since May 12, 2012.
· My total debt is zero.
· Attended Water Treatment Technology training at WaterStep in Louisville on M-100 Chlorine Generator, sanitation, and health education in preparation for future Christian water treatment mission to East Africa with Owensboro Christian Church.
· Donated 82% of my past five-months’ revenue to the following for mine and Bobbie’s “Clean Water Ministry”:
o Life Outreach, Water for Life Mission – Sponsored two complete water wells.
o Alpha Ministries, Living Water Project – Sponsored two complete water wells in India:
§ Sacrificed 3-day decadent wedding anniversary weekend at West Baden Resort to pay for the second Alpha Ministries water well. Instead, went for a nice day outing at West Baden where we enjoyed a 5-star lunch and a nap in the rocking chairs on their southern-style veranda.
o Donated seven M-100 Chlorine Generators to Owensboro Christian Church.
o Donated two M-100 Chlorine Generators to WaterStep.
o Paid mission fees for Bobbie and me to accompany WaterStep to Costa Rica on a water treatment/optical mission from July 22-29, 2019.
· Offered to donate a kidney to a friend; however, I was denied due to my lithium medication, which could degrade my remaining kidney’s function.
· Purchased 38 shopping bags of toys for children, reader eyeglasses, and gifts for the elderly and donated them to the Owensboro Christian Church’s annual Christmas Discount Shoppe.
· St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter for Men in Owensboro:
o Donated and maintained an inventory of reader eyeglasses (assorted powers: 1.00 to 6.00) since October 2016.
· Sponsored Maria Fernanda Cuero in Ecuador through ChildFund since May 2014:
o Assisted with Maria’s college costs through ChildFund since October 2017. Maria is majoring in Architecture. Her goal is to design low-cost housing for the poor of Ecuador.
· Lost 24 pounds using Nutrisystem diet plan since April 1st, and my wife has lost 21 pounds.
· Signed up for the Louisville Triple Crown (5K, 10K, and 10-miler) in February and March 2019.
· Signed up for the Derby Half Marathon in Louisville on April 27, 2019.
Plans:
· Continue...
o Writing short-story memoirs, beginning with “H2Oh” and “Your Care Is Precious.”
o Working as a software development contractor to Gardens Alive.
o Remotely maintaining K2 Marine’s manufacturing and accounting software.
o Sponsoring Maria Fernanda Cuero in Ecuador through ChildFund:
§ Assisting with Maria’s college costs.
o Donating and maintaining inventory of reader eyeglasses at St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter.
· Donate the following to the Hope for Nicaragua mission in August 2019:
o High-power readers (3.50 – 6.00)
o 96 hardcover children’s Bible story books in Spanish
o 36 collapsible aluminum walking canes
o 300 Frisbees embossed with “Jesús me ama” (Jesus loves me) and “Para Dios no hay nada imposible” (For God, nothing is impossible)
o 200 woven embossed shopping bags
· Run/walk Triple Crown in Louisville: 5K on Feb 23, 10K on Mar 9, and 10-miler on Mar 23, 2019.
· Run/walk Derby Half Marathon (13.1 miles) on Apr 27, 2019.
· Go to Costa Rica on Christian water treatment/optical mission with WaterStep from July 22-29, 2019:
o Study water treatment, sanitation, health education, and optometry extensively in preparation. Refresh my Spanish vocabulary and verb conjugations.
o Donate readers, children’s Bible story books in Spanish, walking canes, Frisbees, and shopping bags.
your work is important!
congratulations on giving up smoking.... this leaps out to me, my dad suffered greatly from cigarette usage, he did not develop cancer, but the drs said the heavy smoking had caused veins to shrink denying blood to the brain, they called it OBS back then,
i'm adding you and your wife to my prayer list, I may not be able to accomplish all you all do, but I can pray for your continued faith and success!
