Michelangelo's Depiction of God Reaching Out to Adam on the Ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, A Segment Courtesy Bed Bath & Beyond
God was very busy when suddenly, his father popped in and rudely interrupted…
"God, what are you doing? Playing? I thought I told you to put away that game and get busy with your schooling. There's a big universe out there that we need to attend to.
"I'm working on my project, Dad. You know I love my project."
"Well I don't. It's stunting your adolescent growth! You've been 6000 years fooling around with that little planet when we've got much bigger things to do. When are you going to grow up!"
"But Dad, I'm making progress. I got them to go to their moon, didn't I?"
"Okay, I'll grant you that. But what have you done since? Just more squabbles and more destruction. You created a pretty neat world originally. But then, you introduced that Adam and Eve and things started to go to hell. I wish we had never found that seventh parallel universe. I swear you have been worthless since then."
"Oh, Dad, you're just an old fogey. My friends are into these parallel universe experiments. Mine has lasted a lot longer than Thor's. And what about Zeus? His ideal world was Greek to me and lasted less than a thousand years. Heck, my Romans did better than that! And what about my Egyptians. My players on earth still think that some kind of extraterrestrial they call aliens (?) came and meddled with them. Don't have a clue that it was me that started it all."
"You can talk all you want. But you’re just arrested development to me. All that bickering and those fun wars and stupid religions that you are creating is just going to be another failed little game like the 10 others you played with before this. Time to grow up and help me with the real work."
"Ahh… Dad! Don't take my gaming privileges away again! I promise that I will finish this game tomorrow and start to work with you right after that."
"Promises, promises. I've heard that before. You know I've been very generous with you letting you learn how to grow up by yourself. But it isn't working. So, I'm going to have to cut off your portal."
"No more excuses."
"Ahh… Dad! Don't do it!" God started throwing a tantrum.
Dad waved his hand and the portal closed. That was that. Tomorrow God would get back on track to solving the real problems with his dad that the universe presented almost daily and never-ending complexity and danger.
