For as long as I can remember, in my adult life, my mantra, or scripture that keeps me grounded is in the book of Isaiah;"He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 29-31, NKJV). In my lifetime, I can't tell you how many times I have felt "weak and weary." And in Proverbs; "A man's heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps", (Proverbs 16:9, NKJV). So, that said, now what?
A conversation I have had with several people, people who have just "found" the Lord, say to me, "I'm so happy I have the Lord in my life, now bad things won't happen to me." Hmmmmm... that's not what the Bible tells us. In fact, Jesus words are the opposite.
According to the Gospel of John; "Jesus said, "You believe at last! But a time is coming, and has come, (COVID19) when you will be scattered, each to his own home (self-containment, social distancing). You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me. I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble (the unknowns of the virus). But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:31-33, NKJV). In this passage Jesus is talking to his disciples about His death, resurrection, and second advent. However, I think you see how by adding "what's going on today" to these verses, it gives me hope.
In my weakness, I find strength. In Paul's message to the Corinthians; "When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message with my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power" (I Corinthians 2:1-5, NIV).
