A Cajun Christmas Poem
From the last book in The Sha Bebe Series
The Secret Entrance into the Land of Sha Bebe
“A Special Cajun Christmas” poem:
T'was the night before Christmas, and all through the bayou
Not a possum was roaming, not even a Rougarou
The pirogues' were lined by the wharf with special care
With hopes that the crabs soon would be there
The big pots were boiling with seasonings galore
While the cooks waited patiently near the shore
All of a sudden thee was a big crash on the dock
The boatmen were cheering for the catch at the locks
Oh Sha, we caught too much in those big crab cages
Round up the gang and all of the neighbors
The tables were placed under the trees near the porch
Along the bayou, the ladies began to light the torch
The Christmas feast was about to begin
Boiled crabs, potatoes, and corn on the cob
Carrots and steak with shrimp on a Cajun Shish Kabob
The flavors of gumbo, jambalaya, salads, and desserts galore
While music was echoing through every open door
Oh Sha, we gonna have a good time this weekend
There’s nothing better than being with family and friends
For Christmas
One things for sure, I nearly busted a gut fore I got through all that good Cajun cookie'.
