The Long Road Back

Having driven on Saturday morning from his home in Elk Neck, Rick Randolph had arrived and checked into his suite at the Baltimore Inner Harbor Suites, getting settled in, so that he would be able to get rolling once he was cleared for resuming baseball playing activity.

After settling in, Rick turned on the TV to see who Sports Network was televising as the “Baseball Game Of The Week”.To his surprise they were televising the Philadelphia Diamonds playing the Washington Eagles. Catching the game in progress, the Diamonds were scoring on the Eagles, as Bill Falstaf had made great progress in rebuilding the Diamonds, once again turning them into a viable competitive baseball team, at least the Diamonds were playing .500 baseball and had a record of 56 wins and 54 losses.

When the baseball game ended on TV, Rick decided to watch his Clippers team, playing the Majestics in New York City. The Clippers had really missed his on field leadership and had a record opposite of the Diamonds 54 wins and 56 losses, but they were headed in a downward direction. Rick Randolph actually thought that his return to the lineup may not be able to help the Clippers, that without Bill Falstaf around anymore, the team was going to flounder, no matter what the present team executives and management did to improve the team.

Awhile later in the evening, Rick’s cell phone started ringing and looking down at the caller ID, it was Martin Karre. Answering the phone, Rick spoke up saying, “Hello Martin, how are you”. Martin spoke up saying “I’m doing fine, the Reynolds family is keeping Dianne and myself very busy”, to which Rick inquired, “What’s going on”.

Martin asked Rick, “If he had heard the news about the Reynolds family and their new business plans”. Saying that he had not, Martin said to Rick, “Well, Fred and Carolyn Reynolds have created their own recording studio and of course Alicia is the first signee and apparently they are planning on signing up several other singers. The Reynolds brought in all of their relatives and in - laws to help run the company, even set up a Board Of Directors. Everyone in the family will have a position and part in it”.

Rick spoke up saying, “You mean all of the Reynolds, the Scott’s and the Gannon’s and those related to them will be involved”. Martin said, “Yes, and then some”.

Rick asked, “the Gannon’s daughter Ashleigh, who is a singer, will she also be under contract”. Martin said, “Yes, that’s the plan. As you know all of the relatives who are involved in the business world and some are in the marketing field, so they all know how to make a business project and program work like a precision clock, and of course Dianne and myself have been selected legal representatives”.

Rick replied “That is quite a business operation”, to which Martin said, “Yes it is and all I can say right now is that the Reynolds are not done, I might be telling you more in a couple of weeks”. Rick then asked, “Ahm you mean, in an effort to keep Alicia out of getting in anymore trouble”, Martin said, “Yes, that has a lot to do with it”.

“Oh, by the way”, Rick spoke up, “So where will this business be located, the office, the recording studio and all”. Martin responded “In Broomall, they found an empty building in the Broomall Business Park”.

Martin said to Rick, “Isn’t Broomall where the Diamonds manager Bill Falstaf lives”. “Yeah”, Rick responded, “Over by Lake Palmer, that’s where I lived when I played for the Diamonds”.

Martin said, “OK, I got to go, been great talking to you as always. Will be talking to you buddy”. And with that Rick shut off his phone and decided to get ready for bed.
