Points In Time

Standing. “I’d better get going then!”
“Morgan…” Janice asked “...what’s your hurry?”
“Got to find a good barber shop and a cleaners to get some clothes pressed.”
“Morgan, I’m the ‘new kid on the block’ and don’t want to cause a big problem with anyone here….” motioning about “...before…” looking at Ken “… you asked about ‘Evie’. Am I going to be causing a problem?”
“Evie and me, we’re like…”
“Janice, don’t know if you’ve noticed… Actually no, you couldn’t have figured it out, but Sandy and me are…”
“Ken and me are, I guess you’d say, we’re ‘friends with benefits’. And that’s…”
“Evie and me are like that…” Morgan explained. “We come here together to keep each other company and sometimes… you know…”
“Have a friendly, platonic ‘benefit’.” Sandy added.
“So I’m not breaking anything up between you and this Evie?”
“No. Evie and me are just good friends.”.
“She won’t mind me being here; a, uh, part of your group?”
“No! Not at all. Matter of fact, knowing her, Evie will be happy that you’ve joined us.”
“Okay, then. Why don’t you check with her to see if she’d like to join us for diner tonight.”
“Thank you…” Morgan said “...I think she’d love to.”
“How’s about her husband?”
“Nah…” Ken said “...Evie and him are divorced and just see each other now and then for a, uh, ‘benefit’.”.
“Okay, if she wants to come, invite her then.”
Sherman Oaks, California
May 25,1986
7: 28 p.m.
“Good evening.”
California possibly being one of the most non-formal states in the entire union where men’s ties are ‘only’ worn, ‘usually’ at work.
Both living the closest, usually a bit early anyway. “Good evening…” Ken said “...I believe there’s a reservation for, uh…”
“Good evening…” a beautifully attired, middle aged woman standing alongside a dark oak podium “...how many in your party, please.?”
“We’re not sure, six or seven, but we believe a reservation would have been made by…” Not sure if it would have been made by Janice or in the name of her ex husband.”
“Janice Kim.” Sandy volunteered.
“Aah, yes...For seven.” Motioning to a waitress. “Table nine, please.”
The outside door opening. “Hi!” Marsha and Mitchell entered and directly behind, Evie Dorfman.
“This way, please.” Following the waitress through the beautifully, ‘Old Las Angeles’ motif appointed dining room.
Directed to a large round table, the two couples seated with Ken nest to Sandy and Sandy and Marsha along side of each other with Evie alongside Mitchell.
“Morgan didn’t tell me when he called, but who’s this ‘Janice Kim’, and why are we all invited to this fancy place for diner?”
“I saw her at the field and invited her to join us.”
“Why?”
Crystal glasses of icy water and a silver basket of bakery made biscuits along with a small silver tray with a quarter pound stick of sliced butter placed onto the sparkling white table cloth before the five.
Reaching for a biscuit... “Holey shit!”
Beginning the ‘Janice ’ explanation to Evie, Marsha stopped speaking as a familiar man approached the table.
Dressed in a beautifully tailored light grey suit, wearing a dark grey dress shirt with a red and black stripped tie. Startling white hair fashionably cut.
Heavy sideburns gone. White beard thinned and trimmed to within two inches of Morgan’s chin…
Looking much as a fashion cover for ‘GQ Magazine’, Morgan Joseph approached the table.
“Holy shit!” Mitchell whispered to his wife…
“Holy shit!” Marsha whispered back visualising Morgan’s thick, uncircumcised penis.
Standing so quickly, Evie’s chair almost toppled to the floor. “ ‘Morgan’? My God, Morgan! I can’t even believe it!”
Standing, shaking Morgan’s hand. “Where’ve you been hiding, pal?” Ken asked.
Though considered a very nice man, now appearing as a lead character in a ‘James Bond’ movie, visualising Morgan’s thick, uncircumcised penis, Sandy licked her lips.
“Please…” a half wave to the group “...it’s still me, the package liquor store guy from Van Nuys.”
Taking one of the two remaining chairs either alongside of Mitchell or Evie, taking the seat alongside of Evie, Morgan sat.
Kenneth and Mitchell dressed in appropriately nice slacks, sport shirts and Jackets, looking at Morgan, both felt under dressed.
Marsha and Sandy dressed in appropriately lovely dresses, looking up immediately felt under dressed as...
Actually no more than five minutes late. So not appearing to be making ‘a grand entrance’…
Although.
Appearing as an elegant Euro/Asian beauty, heads of others seated within the huge dining room of ‘The Valley Inn’ turned looking. Watching as the strikingly beautiful — ‘beautifully’ red and black kimono clad thirty-two year old Janice Kim crossed the room.
“My, God!” Evie whispered to Morgan. “That Janice?”
Heart thumping. The one word catching in his throat. “Yes.”
Standing, pulling the chair as she sat. “You look beautiful Janice!” Pushing the chair inward “Meet my friend, Evie.”
Offering her hand, “Hi, Evie…” Janice said in a friendly ‘San Fernando Valley’ tone “...glad to meet you.”
Taken back by this woman’s beauty and — expecting a foreign accent of sorts. Taking a moment until Mitchell nudged her with his knee. Returning the handshake. “Me, too, Janice…” Evie said “….glad to meet you, too.”
“Okay! Let’s eat!” Motioning to a waiter… Janice ordered two bottles of red and one white wine.
“Just tell him whichever you want when he ‘uncorks’ and when you order, don’t even bother to look at the price, order whatever you want.”
The side of his hand to Evie’s ear. “He don’t know it, but her ‘ex’ is paying for all this.”
“Her ‘ex’? Who the hell could find anyone to replace her?” Evie whispered
Evie’s words picked up by Janice. “An old rich bitch that wants to invest in his clinic and it’s more than ‘just’ fine with me, Evie. Glad to be rid of the old fucker!”
So much for ‘demure’!
An illusion shattered. “You’re a ‘Valley Girl’!” Evie affectionately said.
“Yeah!” Index finger to her lips. “Shhh ! Don’t tell anyone!” Janice comically rolled her eyes.
“ An ‘old rich bitch wants to invest I his clinic’? A ‘clinic’? What kind of ‘clinic?”
Taking a biscuit, tearing it in half and stabbing a slice of butter from the butter dish. “Did Morgan tell you anything about Janice? Did he tell you her story and why my wife ‘adopted’ her.”
“No. ‘James Bond’ here…” cocking her head to the right “... said he didn’t have time to talk to me and asked if I wanted to come for diner at ‘The Valley Inn’? So who’d turn down an invitation like that so he just told me what time to be here. Then your wife started to tell me.”
“Too long. Too complicated. Guess you’ll just have to see for yourself.”
“ ‘See’?” Evie questioned.
The wine coming and ‘uncorked’.
The waiter standing by and pouring as Morgan, Marsha and Ken opted for ‘white’ while, Janice, Sandy, Mitchell and Evie ‘red’.
Standing, lifting and holding his glass forward. “A toast...” Morgan said “...to the sexiest, gutsiest lady I’ve ever known.”
Although the flash of remembrance of a fellow CIA operative, a truly ‘gutsy’ woman by the name of Doris Wainright who’s mangled body had to be carried from a muddy field in Cambodia..
“And thanks to you and your ‘ex’ for this great diner!” Evie added.
Possibly because ‘usually’ under ‘some’ degree of intoxication strange that ,while naked, there was no problem making conversation. But here, in clothing, conversation seemed to be stilted and strained, except…
“You mean that you ‘actually’ recognised Marsha’s ‘voice’ after thirty-three years!”
“Yeah. And don’t forget the distance! It’s twenty-five hundred miles between Chicago and LA..”
“And…” Marsha added “...Evie even called me by my maiden name.”
“Well, I’d have no way of knowing your married name, now would I?”
“Amazing!” Janice said. “Just ‘amazing’!”
Four Prime steaks and three, two and a half pound Main lobsters later.
Then desert and cordials…
Finished.
“I’ve an idea!”
The group looked to Janice.
“I live in Tarzana, about ten minutes from here and have this really great private pool, so why don’t you all follow me home and we can go, uh…”
“ ‘Skinny dipping’.” I said.
“Sure, why not!” Ken ‘strongly’ suggested. “...we all know what we all look like naked anyway, so what’s the difference?” Turning to Sandy. “This okay with you?”
Although Morgan’s uncircumcised penis had been on her mind earlier, all Sandy Murray really wanted to to was — figuratively and actually was to get her hands on Mitchell.
Looking at Janice. “Except for me.” Evie said.
“Well…There’s no monitors to keep us…”
Interrupting Marsha “...From becoming ‘too’ friendly.” Sandy said.
“You guys had all the fun today while I was stuck with my ‘old man’. So yeah, if it’s warm enough, I’d ‘love’ to go ‘skinny dipping’ with you guys.”
Horny as hell and thinking of a possible ‘benefit’ from — though his normal appearance had ‘never’ bothered Evie before, the thought of a ‘benefit’ from the ‘new’ Morgan… With— taking a strong liking to Janice, with the possibility of Janice being part of a ‘threesome’ caused a flush of heat within her belly that had ‘nothing’ to do with what she had for dinner.
Squeezing Janice’s hand, hoping to become ‘too’ friendly. “It’s fine with me, baby.” Morgan said.
Hoping to become ‘too’ friendly with Morgan also also…
Raising her right arm…
Reading Janice’s signal, approaching… “On doctor Berger’s tab?” the head waiter asked.
“Yes…” Janice said “...with ‘our’ usual gratuity.”
“Yes, Ma’am.”
Stepping outside, all feeling this balmy night’s warm air…
All seven anxious to be naked again.
And maybe for ‘some’ to become ‘too’ friendly.
Because, after all, Marsha and Mitchell were the ‘only’ married couple so what might happen on this night could have ongoing consequences.
However, Marsha Lipensky, like Evie Dorfman was horny as hell.
