A Multitude Of Events

It was a cool and cloudy Saturday of the Memorial Day Weekend, and it was the beginning of a day that would be remembered in a multitude of different ways for a long time to come.

When WXXT was broadcasting the National Country Music Top 40 songs for the week with Max Zane, Keystone Bay’s top charting song “You Could Have Just Said No” was the number #1 country music for the fourth week in a row.

Upon hearing this on the radio Ryan Davies was very elated. “Somewhere There Is A Rainbow” had been the number #1 country music song for four straight weeks earlier in the year and now “You Could Have Just Said No” had now been at the number one spot for four weeks. One thing for sure was that songs by Keystone Bay were gaining a reputation for their staying power with country music fans.

Right after that Ryan Davies’s cell phone started ringing, it was Felicia Falsington. Ryan answered the phone, Felicia was absolutely breathless. She said to Ryan, “Not only do you have the number 1 song but your CD / Album also just hit the number 1 spot, it’s absolutely awesome that both your single and album are both number 1 at the same time”.

Ryan Davies was awed with the news that Felicia Falsington was telling him and he knew the significance of having both the number 1 single and CD album at the same time.

Ryan Davies said to Felicia Falsington, “That is absolutely awesome and fantastic”.

Then Felicia Falsington said to Ryan Davies, “I’m not sure that you know or have heard from elsewhere, but the music industry is all a buzz about you guys and how Michael, Daniel, Denise and Kim are just knocking music listeners sox’s off, but also the buzz in the pop music field is that your song “You Could Have Just Said No” could be number 1. The feedback that I keep hearing is that the overall music industry and the song buying public is ecstatic over Keystone Bay”.

Ryan Davies at this point was in a state of awe, thanked Felicia for calling and said, “I am absolutely awed and it’s awesome how well Keystone Bay has been received by the public”.

Felicia said, “I have to go, but I just wanted to let you know the good news”.

Ryan Davies said, “Thank you”, then shut off the phone. After reflecting on the phone call from Felicia Falsington and the good news, then gathering himself, then focusing, Ryan went looking for his wife Kim to tell her what Felicia had just told him.

Later that Saturday, Ryan received another phone call, this time it was his music industry contact, Vince Harrington of Record And Song Promotions, Inc., calling with more good news. Vince Harrngton said to Ryan, “I have good news for you my friend, your groups song, “You Could Have Just Said No” has reached Number #1 on the pop music top 40 list”.

At this point Ryan could not contain himself, then said to Vince, “Oh, man, this day couldn’t get any better, this is the type of day that you want to bottle up and put away, to bring out on a really bad day when everything goes wrong”.

When Vince Harrington heard what Ryan Davies just said, he broke out laughing, then said, “The way your group is going, those bad days are going to be few and far between”.

Ryan, at this point was trying to be calm said to Vince, “Thank you for the great news, I will have to relay this to the group”, then he said, “Unless Felicia Falsington has gotten wind of it and has told Daniel Gennings”, to which Vince responded, “That gal always has her ear to the ground, so that could be quite possible”. Ryan said thank you to Vince for calling with the good news, said goodbye and when the call ended turned off the phone.

Then Ryan, whooping it up, called out to his wife, Kim Mathais, and hollered, “Honey, more good news, you guys are number 1 on the pop music charts”. Kim came running to the kitchen where Ryan was and practically jumped into Ryan’s arms, kissed him, then said, “Get the champagne, we’re celebrating”.
