Diddler was a fiddler and he liked to sing along to the tunes that he played on the strings with his bow . But no matter how he tried , no one cared for his songs on the Island of Isolata .
So, he wrote a goodbye note and he stepped into a boat and he rowed away to the shores of Londis there , where they said there was gold on the streets to be found for those who would look high and low .
So, Diddler Dodds he went searching for a dream he was nurturing with a fiddle and a song in his heart .
He rowed through the night looking up at the moon with the stars in his eyes and he danced at the dawn of the day .in a rocky boat where he played jigs to the sun and he sang to the moon as every day went passing by .
On the voyage to Londis in his little boat where his dream kept him afloat all the way .
He arrived at a place called the Isle of Dogs, like a beggar at the door of hope. But all that he found was the sound of the wind that roared like lion on the Southbank side , where he stepped out of the boat like a lamb to the empty streets of a city in the rain .
“What are you doing here ?”
Said the Policeman standing there with a truncheon that he raised in his hand .
Diddler played a tune with the fiddle that he loved but the policeman had an unwelcoming grudge and he spoke with some scorn that was tied to his tongue and he took no time to take Diddler away to a holding cell for further questioning .
Critical words was the desired language that was used in Londis and Diddler he cried ,
“ I’ve done no wrong to no woman or man in this land”.
But as hard as it was , his case had no cause and he was treated like an animal in a cage .He fought the tears away as they forbid him to play his fiddle in the prison night and day . Then after a while his smile ran away to a place where the sun never shone . In the dark night of the soul, he fell in a hole and was surrounded by the doom and the gloom . Everything and everyone seemed to be against him and suddenly the tide turned around . A mysterious visitor called to the prison one day and wanted to speak with anyone who never had regular visits and Diddler’s name was mentioned . The visitor was brought to Diddlers cell and told him he was from the Knights of Heaven and they often went to visit people in prison and hospitals and wanted to hear about Diddler and why he was in prison . He listened with intent as Diddler told his story . After the hour was up, he left Diddler with a message, I am going to find justice for you . It didn’t take long until a lawyer came to visit Diddler and then a case was heard about wrongful imprisonment . It was proved that Diddler Dodds had no criminal record and that he had committed no crime and eventually he was released from prison and compensation was paid for his time spend in prison . On the streets of Londis newspaper told the story about the innocent man who had been locked up and treated badly for no reason .
Diddler had now found gold on the street and soon was invited to play his fiddle and sing to places all over the city .
Now at last the sun shone down on the places where he played and money had come , His fame soon spread and his dream was laid out before him .
Now life was ok and he was invited to play regularly with a band on the wild west end of the city . He played a fusion of Celtic rock and blues and he soon had many fans in the music scene , Fame came overnight without an invite and he had found gold on the streets everywhere Diddler was a fiddler who found a dream come true .
He had made his way from shame to fame and he walked through the town like a king in the palace of dreams . His name was respected around the Thames for the things that he had gone through and all he had dome .
Now he made his way around Piccadilly where the Rockabilly’s go with his fiddle and a daddle and a little riddle oh , with a heck and a hi tech rattle tattle oh , he went a waddle and daddle de ohh and every would sing along with the string of the fiddler who found the wonder of it all don’t you know .
