A visit to a special place brought a unique gift to an innocent girl
Milly Finchwhizzle lived in a house at the end of the road with her front path was flanked by lots of multicoloured flowers that were forever in bloom . Now and then she would see a rainbow in the sky that shimmered with a golden light and touched the ground near her door . That’s when she would jump on to her tricycle and make her along the path and up the hill to the top of the rainbow where she had some wonderful journeys in places far beyond in Rainbow land .
So this morning was one of those days when the rainbow shimmered and off she went on her magic tricycle and along the path past the flowers to the gate and then up the hill to rainbow road and on up to the top of the rainbow where she came to a place where a multicoloured waterfall flowed backwards into a cave on the side of the golden mountain . Milly always followed the rainbow road on her journeys and this time she came to the edge of a forest where a friendly creature with wings stood on the road before her laughing ,
“Ha Ha , oh my goodness , my what a surprise . Welcome to Funny Fruit Forest .
Are you here for a while to visit the cave of good souls?”
Milly smiled and replied .
“I never know where I’m to go . I just follow wherever the path takes me to. ”
“The creature started laughing and Milly also could help but to laugh and once they stopped laughing, they both started to cry .
Then after a while they stopped crying and the creature said ,.
“Well, it certainly seems to me like you’re in the right place all right , so in that case you better keep on going along the path you’re on until you get to the place where you should be going to .“
They both started laughing again and eventually Milly replied
“My name is Milly and I don’t know what’s so funny but I can’t stop laughing “
The creature replied ‘
“Welcome to Funny Fruit Forest , it’s a funny thing you should say that because we all laugh and cry a lot here in Funny Fruit Forest . You’ll get used to it as you make, you’re way through to the cave “
“ Thanks for letting me know . I’ll be on my way now “
She said and the creature replied .
‘You can eat any of the exotic fruit on any of the trees in the forest .They are free but a word of warning ,the trees can talk and they will try to tell you stories and make you laugh . Some of the trees even tell jokes so don’t humour them for too long as they’ll keep you there for hours because they don’t get company that often “
“Thank you for letting me know. Nice to meet you bye for now”.
“Nice to meet you Milly Enjoy your journey to the cave .
Milly waved and made her way along the path on her magic tricycle to the forest where the trees began to talk at once .
“Do you want to hear a story about Joe the Snowman who came to Stay on a winters day and melted away in the sun ?
Another tree said ,
“I have a story about a paper boy who came to see the news and got blown away on a windy day “
“I have a story about a man who fell from the sky and landed high and dry on a rainy day and ended up soaked to the skin in the clothes he was in .”
One by one every tree had a story to tell or a joke to share . Now and then, Milly would stop and have some fruit as she listened to what the trees had to say but each time, she ate the fruit she went into fits of laughter before getting back on her magic tricycle and moving further along the path .
She stopped and got off her tricycle beside a funny looking giraffe in a bath washing her feet .
“Hi , I’m Milly “
She said to the giraffe who started to laugh and Milly began laughing.
Then the giraffe said ,
“Hi, I’m Slanky Legs McGee . The giraffe who likes to have laugh . ::
They both had a laugh and the trees joined in as well . When the laughing all died down Milly said to the giraffe .
“I’ve never had such a laugh . Imagine that a giraffe in a forest having a laugh in a bath “
The giraffe replied ,
“Imagine that a girl on a tricycle , having a laugh on a path in Funny Fruit Forest “
They laughed until they cried and then the giraffe sighed and said ,
“I have to go you know Milly before its time to stay and then the day would be wasted away listening to trees telling stories . So, bye Milly I’ll I have to run before the day is done . Have fun Milly “?
Milly had some fruit and went into a buckle of laughter then got back on her tricycle .
The echo of laughter rang out from the tree tops as Milly made her way along the path to the cave of good souls . When she got to the mouth of the cave a voice called out <:”
‘
;’Are you here for fun or have you innocently come to find where you’re at ?
Milly replied .
“I just came for a look and it never took that long so I’d like to stay for a while and say hello to whoever is here before its time to go “
The mouth of the cave said.
‘You’re welcome here to the cave of good souls where nothing and no one ever changes . Everyone and everything here are glad to have a visitor in this secret part of the mountain where the souls remain to tell you things you have never heard .
“Milly went into the cave and was amazed to see lots of books scattered around on the ground inside the cave and laughter rang out form the books . Then as the laughter faded a voice said ,
“No talking books are never read in your head , for each word is heard on the empty pages ?”
“How did you know what I was thinking >
Milly asked and the voice replied ,
“Here in the cave of good souls we who are here can read minds, so we all know the thoughts that you’re thinking before you can even speak them out “
Milly laughed and said ,
“’Enough said , I’m just here to have a look and not to listen to a talking book “
An echoing voice replied ,
“I’m one of the good souls here in the cave and yes you have been given the gift of laughter and tears so now you know there’s no need to worry . You will use that gift when you return to the place you come from and the world will be a better place for the gift you share :
“Thank you, good soul . Thats exactly what I was thinking “:
Milly said.
Milly listened to the books telling their stories for a while and she smiled when a voice whispered .
“Yes, Milly Its time for you to go now .”
She got on her tricycle and made her way out of the cave and along the rainbow path through the forest and then down the hill from the top of the rainbow path to her little house where the golden light faded away . She put her tricycle away in the shed and then made her way inside the house and thought about the gift she had been given and how she could make the world a better place .
