An evening at the archery that didn't go as usual when love struck.
The Whole Life Is Like a Puzzle
We’ve been taught that life is like a puzzle, and I think that’s true . Love life is a puzzle of its own, and even though mine only has two pieces, it’s unsolvable because one piece is always missing. Typical, right?
But that has finally changed. It happened last week when I was struck by Cupid’s arrow. Or rather, an arrow and it wasn’t Cupid’s arrow that hit me, but one from Linda, which went straight through my thigh at the archery club.
First came surprise, then pain and when I turned around, I saw Linda standing there with her hands covering her face, peeking through her fingers in horror, her bow lying on the floor. Our eyes met, and suddenly the pain disappeared, replaced by a warm feeling inside. I’d seen her before, but never dared to talk to her, she’s so beautiful, and I figured I didn’t stand a chance.
But there we were, looking into each other’s eyes. She lowered her hands, and her terrified look slowly turned into a warm smile. And I just knew, that was the person I’d been looking for all my life.
Then I fainted. Apparently, you bleed quite a lot from an arrow through your thigh.
I woke up on the floor while some people from the club were bandaging my leg, and to my great delight, I realized Linda was sitting there with my head in her lap, gently stroking my forehead. I looked up, and she broke into a big smile when she saw I was awake and whispered, “I’m sorry.”
When the ambulance finally arrived, she came with me to the hospital and kept me company. It felt surreal, me lying there with my leg all wrapped up, the two of us chatting about everything and nothing, like we were on a date. When I looked at her, it was as if she was glowing. Maybe it was just the painkillers, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t.
She stayed with me the whole day, and when she finally realized she had to go home, we ended it with a long hug and a big kiss on the lips before saying goodbye. But it’s clear now, I’ve found the one I’ve been looking for, and I can finally complete my two-piece puzzle.
Yes, that’s how we met or, as you might say, how Linda struck me with love.
You need to reload your image in a smaller version. To read the story I had to make the story fill my 24 inch screen.
But it was a cute story and I love it! Perhaps it is true?
I have found that women are most loving when we are hurt enough to go to the hospital or recuperate. Their nurturing nature kicks in.
Coincidentally, a high school friend of my brother and mine came over to our house one day to show us his new hunting bow and arrows. Fortunately, he was only carrying his target arrows and not the razor tips used in deer hunting.
On the way over on his bicycle he was holding the arrows across the handlebars when one of them fell down from his right hand and rammed into his right thigh about 3 inches. I can't recall what happened after that, but I believe he made it to our place where we bandaged him up. No love involved in this case. He was such a klutz (German word for really awkward).
