Betty Whitherspoon was pulling down the blinds in the front parlour just as the street lights were being turned on . A soft mist was falling and she heard a cat calling outside . It seemed to appear from nowhere , there in the mist as twilight fell .
The little cat came and stood outside Bety’s front door of her little house , in the little street where she had lived for years in the little town of Amnesty in the heart of Greengate county .
Betty looked at the little cat standing there outside her front door and the little cat jumped up and sat on top of the outside windowsill looking at Betty with these big silvery green eyes that looked deep into her heart . At that moment the cat knew it had found a home . Betty went and opened up the front door and gently said.
“Well hello there cutie . Just look at you , oh you must be hungry, I’m sure .“
The little cat meowed and walked in and out like daisy bluebells between Bettys feet purring away as happy cats always do . Betty reached down and picked up the little cat and held it in her arms for a few moments before carrying it inside her house.
Closing the front door , she placed the cat on the mat in front of the fireplace then she went to the kitchen and brought a bowl of milk for the cat who drank it in seconds . Then the cat curled up in front of the fire and fell asleep .
Betty was feeling happy and content that she had a new little furry friend in her life and she often talked away to Misty like she was a human . Betty was convinced that Misty could understand everything she said and there were days Betty would sing to and the little cat made these happy harmonious meowing sounds in a sweet song for that moment in time .
Even though Betty made enquiries to see if anyone had lost their cat, she hoped that no one would ever turn up looking for Misty . As time passed Betty started to think maybe the cat was a gift for her .
As the months passed , she and Misty became good friends and they were both very happy to be living together in their little house , in their little street , in the little town of Amnesty in the Greengate county .
Betty knew that Misty was extra smart but she did know just how smart Mistry was .
Misty would sometimes disappear for a day or two to visit all her other animal friends around the town and talk to them about her new home and all the things that had been happening with Betty .
With so many social flirtations it had to happen , she was going to have some little kittens . Misty began to stay home now a lot more and her little getaways came to a stop . Misty had three beautiful kittens all the spitting image of her .
Misty immediately began to feed them and tell them stories about all her animals friends and more importantly on how they had to go and find themselves a home , just like she had to do .
As the kittens grew, they were worried about leaving and going to sit outside front doors of people’s houses . Misty explained that its more than just selecting any house at random but there’ a lot of investigating to be dome before choosing which door to sit outside .
Misty explained to her three kittens that if they could find people who lived alone, they stood a good chance of being adopted and finding a happy home . Misty also told her kittens that most young children around the town loved kittens, so if they found a home where there were families with young children that there would be a chance of being adopted into that home .
Other kinds of people that were a good to seek out were young married couples , due to the fact that many modern couples had decided not to have children or were unable to have children so the next best thing was to have a kitten in their lives instead . Misty educated them about how to make the right purring and meowing sounds and how to make their eyes warm and friendly . She always told them about how cats had the ability to read minds and that was always a great way to seek out the right kind of people who were warm and friendly . Day by day Misty and the kittens practised how to approach people and how to look cute and in need of a hug .
Then came the day when Misty told her kittens it was time for them to find a home of their own . So, at twelve weeks of age the kittens had all the information they needed and with hope in their hearts , off they went on the quest into the town to check out all the possible contenders for being adopted into a happy home .
They watched secretly sat in the background and watched children going to school , people doing shopping , young couples walking hand in hand . On weekends they made their way to wedding ceremonies and other places where families went for picnics and outings .
On reporting to Misty all the possibilities for adoption , Misty helped them to the t outside . The first few attempts made by the kittens failed with the kittens returning to Misty in the little house , in the little street , in the little town of Amnesty in Greengate county . Misty explained it was normal for that kind of result to occur but they had to continue with the process until they found the right home with the right person or family .
Slowly things were changing , one night only two kittens returned and then eventually all the kittens never came back .
Misty missed her little ones but the love she got from Betty always made her feel much better . In her heart Misty’s kittens were never far away and she was satisfied to know that they had found a happy home somewhere out there in Greengate .
Cats sleep a lot a in their dreamtime they always meet up with those who are connected to them . In that mystical world , cats have the ability to touch bast with one another . In that dreamtime world , Misty would always tell each of her kittens ,
“Hello and always remember , I’m always with you “
”We’re always here “
They would say .
Misty often said to them
“This dream world were we go to is like a vision that comforts and reassures us that life is ok and family and friends are always together to get us through all the things we are going through “
All her animal friends would say ,
“Isn’t misty just so smart “
As the years went by, she began to notice Betty’s movements becoming slower as she was growing older but inside Betty never changed . She still sang those little songs and gave lots of loving hugs that made Misty feel loved .
One morning Betty woke up and Misty knew it was time for her to go and find another new home to live in and soon she was sitting in another window sill of a little house , in a little street in the little town of Amnesty in the heart of Greengate county.
A nice little story why so many lonely women have cats around to make them feel they are loved. Cats don't give their love freely. And if they do give their love, it is appreciated.
I think it would've been better had Betty passed on had been reincarnated as a cat like Misty.
