I decided a long time ago to take the songs that I wrote out to the concrete streets and play until darkness fell .
With a six string guitar and a blues harp from the bottom
of my heart I sang and the songs that I brang where my own but it was more than music and songs for I brought you my dreams and laid them out before you .
Did I tell you how much I had suffered to write then
and share them out in the wind and the rain and did you ever realised as you passed me by you were walking through my lounge room where I stood .
It’s a little different to go singing songs on the streets from town to town and as the months turned into years I lost track months long I had been was doing that .
I went, not knowing what each day would bring and all I had was a guitar and some songs to sing .
Such fondness it was to be there in a place where mercy and hope ran away like the so called friends when I needed help ,
Deserted on the streets everyday and the music and songs I brang were the confirmation of giving it all or nothing .
In those special times , I could do no wrong with the songs I had to share and day after day wherever I went to play there were people there to hear and they were part of the dream I shared .
The songs I wrote were shared and heard by mothers , fathers , daughters and sons who passed me by in the blink of an eye .
Were you perhaps one of those who seen and heard the busker standing there , did you hear the music I brang and the songs I sang and did you smoke as you passed me by .
Where you the one who threw abuse and a coin that travelled like a skimming stone across the street .
Where you the child that said ,
“Mammy , Daddy can I have a some money for the busker ?
Where you the girls who pulled people on the sidewalk closer to hear me play and where you the one who gave me the last coin i’m
your pocket ?
Where you there and did you see the dreams I brang and as I sang on the streets of your city or town .
Now those days are gone like the dreams I had .
Do you ever think of me now and then and wonder where I went .
Some songs are meant to be shared , some dreams are meant to come true .
If you were part of the dreams I brang , let me thank you because they were everything that I had and I wanted to share them with you .
Unfortunately, I never traveled the paths that you traveled all those years. But, I never passed a busker without putting something in the hat. And, if I had time, stay a while and listen to the music and the lyrics of the brave soul willing to stand out in the hot sun and rain to entertain people on the street
