*** Saturday morning finds an upset Auntie pounding on President Wang’s (Yaya’s) door ***
*** Servant opens the door; Auntie bursts into the living room where Yaya is sitting with her MIL ***
Auntie: “WHY? YAYA! WHY?! WHY DID YOU FIRE UNCLE?”
MIL: “Ahhh!!! What’s happening, Yaya?”
*** Yaya, appearing calm. She is not affected by Auntie’s demeanour and emotions ***
Yaya: “Auntie, you need to calm down and sit down, and I will tell you everything.”
*** Yaya’s husband, Derek, comes downstairs to greet Auntie ***
Derek: “Hello, Auntie! What brought you here this morning?”
MIL: “Well, Yaya, tell us what happened. Why did you fire Uncle?”
Yaya: “Mom, I have no choice. Uncle has committed a crime. He needs to be punished by law. Sending Uncle home and firing him was the best I could do to protect our family.”
MIL: “Yeah! But he’s family.
*** Yaya took a piece of document out of a leather document holder ***
Yaya: “Here, Mom! I have all the evidence to prove his crime. His bank statements show he’s been embezzling funds from our company and sending monthly bribes to shareholders. Uncle has been scheming with outsiders to bring down our company and kick me out of the president’s seat.”
*** Auntie sobbing, staring at the documents with wide-eyed disbelief ***
Auntie: “I can’t believe it!”
Yaya: “Uncle has been scheming to take me down and take over our company ever since Dad’s passing. He has been bribing and colluding with Mr. Tam to send inferior building materials to Mr. Ray in the Feng group.”
Auntie: “I can’t believe he’s doing all this behind my back to try to ruin our family business!”
*** Auntie is sobbing again, upset at her husband’s betrayal ***
Yaya: “I did what I had to do to protect the family. I sent Mr. Tam to jail because he is directly involved with Mr. Ray of the Feng group. They are pocketing the bribes and the price differences in the materials. They intend to frame me for what they are doing, so they can have a reason to kick me out of my position. I did not want to send Uncle to jail. So I chose to fire him on the spot and sent him home instead.”
Yaya continues, “If Uncle would return all the money he has embezzled from the company to me, then I would withdraw the charges against him; he can then work as a witness to our case against Mr. Tam and Mr. Ray of the Feng group.”
Derek: “I agree.”
*** Now, everyone has left ***
*** Two dogs, Coco and Tommy, sneak out of the bedroom, look around, and find no one except their Grandma, in her purple pyjamas, now napping on the couch again. They also find a lot of treats on the coffee table.***
Coco: “Hey, Tommy! Where’s everyone?”
Tommy: “I don’t know. Disappeared. Let’s take a bite of these.”
