A young boy writes down his deepest and heartfelt wishes, and he writes of how he wants people to accept him for the way he is.
I have a list of wishes that I have written down because I am dying, and I won't get to fulfill a lot of them. But I still can let people know what I want in life and why.
Wish #1:
I wish that I could grow up to learn to drive a car (for me, I would like to have a PT Cruiser; those are the coolest looking cars!), go on a date (I would love to have a girlfriend who would accept me for who I am, not for WHAT I am!), get married and have a family (I would like to have a family of four kids, 2 boys and 2 girls), and see my kids grow up. Because I have a terminal disease (muscular dystrophy; I have the worst kind, Duchenne's), I won't get to fulfill these wishes. (Doctors have given me only a few years left to live, at best.)
Wish #2:
I wish that people would stop fighting or hating each other and learn to get along. I wish there were not things like terrorism or wars, and I wish that people wouldn't have to live in fear. I hate being scared all of the time, and I don't think it is very nice to kill innocent people, just because they "aren't like a certain group" or just because they happen to live in a place like America, where people are free. In fact, I see NOTHING wrong with being free! In fact, I would rather be free than to be told what to do or what I couldn't do all of the time!
Wish #3:
I wish that people were nicer towards me. I see the stares or hear the comments that people say, just because I happen to use a wheelchair (or crutches for short trips) or wear these braces upon my legs. I know I am disabled; but your staring or your rude comments isn't gonna' score any points from me! In fact, it just shows how stupid you are acting! How would you like it if I did the same thing to YOU? Think how your life would be if you were in MY shoes for once! In fact, you CAN become disabled when you least expect it, so THINK about what I am saying, and think about how you were if you were in my situation! And remember: at least you AREN'T dying! How would you treat someone you knew who was dying; would you treat them as badly as you treat me at times?
Wish #4:
I wish that people could come to know the joy I know in knowing Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. I know you are entitled to believe the way you choose to, but I happen to be a Christian, and I was taught that if you didn't accept Jesus Christ into your life, you were NOT going to go to Heaven; and part of my duty as a Christian is to tell others about Jesus Christ!
Wish #5:
I wish I could meet people like Kelly Clarkson, Jackie Chan, Johnathan Lipnicki (people say we look alike, and I would like to see that for myself, to see if it is true !), Victoria Huggins (she is a talented young gospel singer from North Carolina, and any kid who sings about Jesus is okay in my book!), Justin Guarini (he was in the finals of "American Idol" last year, but he lost to Kelly; still, he sings good!), and Kata Huddleston (she goes by Kata Hay now, and she is a very talented young teen yodeler, and besides, I hear she won the original "Star Search" when she was only five years old; I would like to meet someone who was on the original "Star Search", and Kata is as good as any!). I would also love to meet Jesus, but I WILL get that chance when he comes back to Earth.
Wish #6:
I wish I could take all the diseases like AIDS or cancer, and find cures for each and every one; I hate to see people suffer, and I especially hate to see little kids like myself suffer. I would also love to see a cure for muscular dystrophy, so I could just get out of this stupid chair of mine and start WALKING or even RUNNING. I would go faster than a CHEETAH if I could walk or even run!
Wish #7:
I wish I could go to Africa and see the Maasai people and also see the African wildlife. I have some friends who are originally from Africa, and they have shown me pictures, and the places they went to were absolutely STUNNING; and I would also love to see the Maasai people and go to a Maasai village, so I can see for myself just how the Maasai people live and go about their daily lives.
Wish #8:
I wish that girls would stop kissing me. I am a BOY, and if there is one thing I CAN'T STAND, it's girls kissing on me! *BLECCHHH* >:(
Wish #9:
I wish I could have a cheetah for a pet. That would be so COOL! :)
Wish #10:
If I could, I wish I could be the President of the United States. If I were President, I would create jobs for the poor, and I would give tax breaks for the poor or middle class. I would also create programs to help the handicapped, elderly, or the veterans because it seems it is these people who get hit the hardest when it comes to programs being cut or whatever, and I don't think that is very nice or necessary. I would also help the schools, and I would make it a point for our kids to learn to read and write, so we can compete with the rest of the world and better ourselves. I would also have programs to teach English to non-English-speaking people, so we can understand one another when we DO talk to one another. I would also punish those people who engage in terrorism, and if I found out that they were involved in terrorism in any way, I would boot them out of America and NOT let them come back..EVER! I would shut our borders for a time until people learned to behave themselves and appreciate the freedom they already have! I feel that if you are going to live in a country like America, then they are going to have to learn to appreciate their freedom because it CAN be taken away if they don't behave themselves!
There you have it. My list of wishes. Hopefully, one or two (or even ALL of them!) will come true ! Oh, I sure hope so!
