I am in such emotional turmoil, I don't know quite where to begin.
Just got through talking to Dr. Stryker, and the news he told me was absolutely stunning, to say the very least. The news was, as I feared, very bad.
Jacinthe is alive, but she has sustained brain damage, and Dr. Stryker--the bastard--says to expect not much hope for my little girl. He doesn't know the extent of the damage to her brain, but he says that she will probably be affected mentally as a result of the meningitis she is still recovering from. She is still in a drug-induced coma, and her vital signs are finally starting to stabilize, but she is still a very sick little girl.
I don't know how Dr. Stryker can be such a jerk. He is so cold and callous it's a wonder he IS a doctor; how can such an uncaring, insensitive man like Dr. Stryker even be CONSIDERED a doctor? I thought doctors were supposed to be caring and kind towards their patients, not so cold and unfeeling! And Dr. Stryker's bedside manner is anything BUT caring!
At this, I see the little nurse I saw the other day, and at the sight of her, I break down into tears. She comes up to me and sits beside me, and she holds me against her ample chest as I sob out the news to her. At the news, her dark eyes fill with tears, and she gives me a huge bear hug as she then says, "Would you like me to pray for your little girl?" I nod my head yes, and she then prays for little Jacinthe. She also prays for me, and at once, the fear that's been flooding my soul the past week suddenly vanishes, if only for a short moment, and I feel peace inside.
She then goes to Jacinthe's bedside, and she puts her hand on my little comatose girl's forehead, and she starts to pray for a healing for her; and I can tell by her praying that she is very much a Christian, and she is very sincere in her praying. The words she utters comfort me, and I feel the tears well up in my eyes. She then comes up to me and says, "Jacinthe's in Jesus' Hands now. He'll watch out over her. She will come through this."
I tell her about Dr. Stryker's manners towards me, and she says that he "is all bark and no bite". She says that he may seem mean on the surface, but he is a very good neurologist, and she says that he is very dedicated to his job. She said that she felt the same way when her one daughter, Ronee', had suffered a stroke, but it was he that had saved her little girl's life, and now her little girl is doing very well, and she says that it is as though she had never even HAD a stroke because she is walking and talking and is acting like a normal little girl of ten. She said that Ronee' had the stroke nearly 3 years ago, on her eighth birthday, but has since recovered completely. Since then, she has a very huge respect for Dr. Stryker, and she and Dr. Stryker often work together whenever she is called to work in the Neuro area of the hospital.
The nurse's name, as I find out by the tag on her uniform, is Louisiana Sandusky, and I find out that she is the charge nurse. She is very short, but she is very pretty, with long, black hair and very dark eyes, and also dark skin; and she walks on a cane; but she still gets around quite well. (She is chunky in size, and is quite busty; she reminds me of a dark version of country legend Dolly Parton!)
I only hope that Jacinthe will have a good outcome once she emerges from her coma (that is, IF she does)...if God can provide Miracles, as he did with Louisiana Sandusky's little daughter, Ronee', then hopefully he can do the same for little Jacinthe. Maybe the news won't be as bad as it seems at the moment; time will only tell....
