Susan Sam LeGree's
Success Story
When I retired to Florida, and a degree of anonymity, I decided it was time to do something with myself. No one knew me, so if I failed; so what? Fifty years old, and without journalism credentials, I blundered into the local newspaper's editor's office and offered to write for him for free. He said the price was right and I was given a monthly social column as an assignment, and I'm sure, to prove myself. From there I became a String Reporter (with paycheck)and was given all sorts of topics to pursue and people to interview. After various other writing jobs, I turned introspective and began a collection of mostly free-verse, down to earth poetry and essays on daily life and the fun of aging; which I had published. My latest endeavor, is the historical novel. I've always had great interest in the past and its people. I now have 4 books in print and I'm a proud member of the National League of American Pen Women, as well as the Southeastern Writer's Association. If this is retirement, I highly recommend it.
