The Scenes From The Indigo Lounge series is my personal celebration of a city I adore, and a curtsy to the people who move me to visit again and again.
There's a story behind the face of every person who walks into the doors of the Indigo Lounge. On this particular night, the owner of this popular jazz club meets the one person from her past she wasn't sure she'd ever see again in her lifetime.

Dionna Perry, aka Veronica Mills, is the co-owner and singer at the Indigo Lounge. She immediately recognized her son Kendall, whom she abandoned twenty-four years ago, when her entered the club. She was only sixteen when she met Kendall's father. They married a couple of years later, and the next year Kendall was born. Dionna wanted to further her singing career, so she packed her bags, moved as far away as she could and changed her name. Now that her past is staring her in the face, she decides to tell Kendall the truth; however, she is not prepared for Kendall's startling revelation.
Although short, WHERE PRESENT MEETS PAST: A Scene from the Indigo Lounge by Kamichi Jackson was a very enjoyable read. Jackson tells the story by interweaving scenes in the present with those from the past, so readers are able to understand the relationships of each character. She also includes a host of secondary characters who play integral parts in the story. For those seeking a quick, captivating read, this story is just for you.
