Let’s Get Some More Info for Applying for
a Credit Card…
Julie was married. “Was” being the key word. Her lousy cheating spouse moved on, leaving her with definite debt issues. Julie has fallen behind on her monthly payments. Worse, ex-husband cancelled her Visa credit card and applied for a new card for the “other woman”. Julie had owned the card jointly but unfortunately wasn’t the primary cardholder.
Oh, almost forgot to mention… her husband, when still together, had convinced Julie to book a cruise to the Caribbean on her MasterCard. He called the trip a second honeymoon. Julie believed that it was to be their second honeymoon, she never imagined that he would take her best friend on their second honeymoon! While he was sipping margaritas on the upper deck, Julie was trying to figure out how to pay for a $ 5,000.00 cruise.
Okay, guys, women can be dreadful too. Take Sam, he’s newly divorced also. He fell in love with Betsy at nineteen. Reaching middle age, Betsy became obsessed with trying to retain her youth. She begged Sam to give her a million dollar makeover for Christmas. Well, actually the total bill was $ 34,599.00, an ala carte bargain including hip and stomach liposuction, breast augmentation, and eleven Botox injections. By Valentine’s Day, swelling subsided, leaving Betsy looking fifteen years younger. Sam thought she looked awesome. He bought her a super-sized bouquet of red roses on the way home from work. He and his flowers waited anxiously for her to come home. After three days of waiting, the flowers were dead and Sam realized Betsy had left him. Insult to injury, Sam found out Betsy had shacked up with her plastic surgeon. Sam was furious, not only had his wife left him for her doctor, he had a $34,599.00 credit card bill payable to the jerk!
What does each of these pathetic situations have in common? Both Julie and Sam’s partners have left them and left them with bad credit. All through life’s ups and downs, one thing that will never abandon you is your credit score. For good and for bad, your credit score will stick with you forever. Treat your credit right and your credit score will be good to you. Screw with it and it will screw you back. Learn this lesson early in life and you‘ll save yourself a lot of grief.
