Walk-Thru Prior to Move-In
Before moving your belongings into your new home, do a walk through checklist with the Landlord writing everything down and taking pictures of issues that need fixed, carpet stains, marked up walls, missing tile, and of anything else that may cause you to lose your Deposit when you move out, no matter how nice the Landlord is. All it will take is one time of learning this lesson the hard way. Both you and your Landlord need to sign off on the list and get a copy of the walk through checklist. You can make copies of the pictures and file them in your computer or in a hard file with walk through checklist and a copy of the lease, for future reference.
